PANGKALPINANG -- PT TIMAH Tbk has demonstrated a strong commitment to improving community quality of life through the implementation of the Kemunting Program (Activities to Reduce Stunting), a strategic initiative aimed at enhancing family nutrition quality and preventing stunting among children.
The Kemunting Program of PT TIMAH Tbk is designed as a preventive and promotive measure to reduce stunting rates through various activities, ranging from health awareness campaigns, provision of supplementary food, free health check-ups, to education on balanced nutrition.
Kemunting is part of the implementation of the company’s Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (CSER) or CSR program, which has been carried out since 2023 in the operational areas of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province and the Riau Islands Province.
The main targets of this program include students, pregnant women, toddlers, and health cadres in mining-affected communities. Through this approach, PT TIMAH Tbk encourages family self-reliance in improving nutrition, in order to create a high-quality generation toward Indonesia Emas 2045.
In its implementation, PT TIMAH Tbk partners with AIMI Bangka Belitung (the Indonesian Breastfeeding Mothers Association of Bangka Belitung) as a strategic partner to ensure the program is well-targeted and education-based.

In addition, PT TIMAH Tbk also collaborates with local governments, community groups, and the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province to carry out stunting prevention programs.
In 2024, PT Timah Tbk realized the Kemunting Program through socialization activities and the provision of supplementary food in six villages, namely Tanjung Ratu Village and Rebo Village, Ria Village in Toboali District, South Bangka Regency, Riding Panjang Village in Belinyu District, Paku Village and Lumut Village in Belinyu District, and Cupat Village in Parittiga District.
These activities targeted mothers and children as the groups most vulnerable to the risk of stunting, while also strengthening community awareness of the importance of adequate nutrition from an early age.
In 2025, PT TIMAH Tbk continued to expand the reach of the Kemunting Program through a number of strategic activities, including stunting prevention socialization for students at Pemali Boarding School Dormitory in Pemali Village, and efforts to enhance mothers’ skills in preparing healthy meals based on local food ingredients in the Nelayan II Sungailiat area.
In addition, capacity-building training for health cadre facilitators was conducted in the Sungai Selan area, along with the distribution of supplementary food packages for children suffering from stunting. The company also collaborated with the BKKBN through the Foster Parents Movement to Prevent Stunting (GENTING) Program for families at risk of stunting in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province.
Through the Kemunting Program, PT TIMAH Tbk not only focuses on short-term interventions, but also builds a long-term foundation to improve the quality of human resources.
This program is in line with PT TIMAH Tbk’s commitment to grow together with the community, not only in economic aspects, but also in health and social welfare.
Department Head of Corporate Communication of PT TIMAH Tbk, Anggi Siahaan, stated that the Kemunting Program is not merely a short-term activity, but part of the company’s sustainable contribution to improving community quality of life.
“The company remains committed to supporting government efforts in preventing stunting and improving community nutritional status. The Kemunting Program is directed at building family-level nutritional resilience independently,” she said.
Meanwhile, Head of BKKBN Bangka Belitung, Fajar Sentosa, expressed his appreciation for PT TIMAH Tbk’s support in reducing stunting rates in the region. According to him, although stunting prevalence in Bangka Belitung has declined, support from various parties is still very much needed.
“We hope other companies will also contribute through CSR or CSER programs, for example by helping build sanitation facilities for underprivileged communities so that stunting prevention efforts can be more optimal,” he said.
With a collaborative and sustainable approach, PT Timah is optimistic that the Kemunting Program can serve as a tangible contribution by the company in supporting the national target of reducing stunting and realizing a superior generation of Indonesians in the future.
