BANGKA -- PT Timah Tbk held a joint rally as well as signing a joint commitment to Occupational Safety and Health or K3 in commemoration of the National OHS Month which was held at the Pemali Timah Learning Center, Bangka, Thursday (9/2/2023).
The Director of Operations and Production of PT Timah Tbk Purwoko acted as a supervisor in the K3 Apple conveying the message of the Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziah. This year's Commemoration of the National K3 Month carries the theme 'Creating Decent Work with an OHS Culture to Support Business Sustainability in Every Workplace'
This rally was also attended by the Head of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province Manpower Office Sunardi, the Head of the Bangka Region ESDM Office Branch Petrus Subagio, Representatives of Tin Employees from each Unit/Division, and stakeholders.
Previously, each Production Unit within PT Timah Tbk had also held an Apple in commemoration of the National K3 Month which was held in each Production Unit.
In this event, a drill test was also demonstrated in the form of a simulation of extinguishing a car fire that occurred in the office area. PT Timah Tbk also held various competitions about K3 between divisions/work units.
Director of Operations and Production of PT Timah Tbk, Purwoko, said that this ceremony was part of a series of National K3 Commemoration activities carried out by PT Timah Tbk, which had started last January.
The commemoration of the National K3 Month which was carried out by PT Timah Tbk, he said, was an effort to increase collective awareness to be concerned about the implementation of K3, especially in daily activities while working.
"The company has a high commitment to implementing K3, so today we made a joint commitment as a form of our determination with the tagline
There are no work accidents resulting in death or serious injury," he said.
"This year we will increase it again, in addition to zero fatalities but also zero serious accidents, so there can be no serious accidents in PT Timah's business processes," he continued.
He said this certainly needs to be supported by all parties, both internal and external. His party encourages K3 to become a shared culture to always be implemented.
PT Timah Tbk, he said, is very concerned about OSH and even members of the Indonesian mining holding MIND ID are investing by collaborating with global consultant DuPont to encourage improvements in OSH management.
"We are investing heavily by inviting global consultants to improve the K3 Culture. If last year we increased OSH understanding in the manager's environment down to the Directors, this year we will continue to increase understanding in the field down to the worker level. So that everyone has the same understanding and the same concern about K3," he said.
To achieve this target, he said PT Timah Tbk would optimize the role of mine supervisors in the field, such as strengthening the K3 management system.
"We will strengthen the role of supervisors in the field, we will complete it in terms of structure, tools, and cost. So that later the structure is fulfilled, the system is supportive and the company is committed to spending sufficient funds to support the K3 target," he stated.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Bangka Belitung Islands Provincial Manpower Office, Sunardi said that during the commemoration of the National K3 Month, there were several things that were of concern, namely related to occupational diseases such as tuberculosis, the K3 Management System and control of work accidents.
"In the event, there was a simulation conducted by PT Timah, this is very good in efforts to handle and control work accidents. This is an example so that productivity continues so that the company can raise, be safe, efficient and continue," he said.
He also invited mining business actors in Bangka Belitung to regularly conduct mutual tests of work equipment so as to reduce the risk of work accidents.
"The K3 in the mining sector that we have to pay attention to is the workplace related to mutual tests related to equipment such as electrical problems, lifting, and transportation equipment. We hope that this evaluation will be carried out periodically," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Bangka Region ESDM Service Branch Petrus Subagio appreciated PT Timah Tbk for routinely holding K3 events. With this ceremony, he said, it is a momentum for employees to pay attention to K3 at the place of business,
"In the future, we always remind that K3 can be implemented. The important thing is that accidents that have occurred should not be repeated," he said.
