BANGKA BARAT — The presence of PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk at the Development Exhibition, held as part of the celebrations for the 23rd Anniversary of Bangka Barat Regency and the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, has captured public attention since the exhibition opened on Wednesday (August 19, 2026), in Simpang Teritip District.
The Development Exhibition is part of a series of events commemorating the 23rd Anniversary of Bangka Barat, organized by the Bangka Barat Regency Government from August 19–23, 2026.
Through its Processing and Refinery Division, PT TIMAH presented educational information about the processing and smelting of tin ore at the exhibition. It comes as no surprise that the booth attracted many visitors, including the Regent of Bangka Barat and members of the local Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda).
Through this exhibition, PT TIMAH gave visitors an opportunity to take a closer look at the tin mining process, which is followed by processing and smelting to produce tin metal. The information was made even more engaging through visual presentations and direct explanations from the booth staff.
Not only members of the public, but also Bangka Barat Regent Markus, along with members of the Forkopimda, took the time to visit the PT TIMAH booth.
One local resident, Johan (60), said he was interested in visiting the PT TIMAH booth because he wanted to learn more about the processing and smelting of tin ore.
“Until now, we have only known about the process of finding tin ore carried out by local miners. At the PT TIMAH booth, we can also learn about how the ore is processed and smelted into tin metal through videos displayed on the screen and explanations from the booth staff,” he said on Wednesday evening (August 19, 2026).
According to Johan, the presence of the PT TIMAH booth provided a new experience for the community because it not only presented information but also offered educational insights into the processing of tin, a commodity that has long played an important role in the lives of the people of Bangka Barat.
A similar sentiment was expressed by another resident, Ulo (46), who appreciated PT TIMAH’s concept of combining education with entertainment for visitors.
“Unlike the other booths, visitors can not only come and learn about tin processing, but PT TIMAH also provides door-prize coupons, which will later be drawn on August 22,” he said.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Committee for the 23rd Anniversary Celebration of Bangka Barat, Fakhriansah, expressed his appreciation for PT TIMAH’s support for the series of events.
He said PT TIMAH’s support was demonstrated not only through its participation in the Development Exhibition but also through assistance in supporting the organization of the activities.
“Thank you to PT TIMAH for supporting this event. In addition to opening a booth, PT TIMAH has also provided support for the organization of the 23rd Anniversary Celebration of Bangka Barat,” said Fakhriansah, who also serves as Head of the Bangka Barat Culture and Tourism Office.
He added that collaboration between the local government, business sector, and community is an important part of successfully organizing the Bangka Barat anniversary celebrations while ensuring that the activities provide benefits and entertainment for the community. (*)
