PANGKALPINANG — In commemoration of its 29th anniversary, PT DAK held a blood donation event in collaboration with the Pangkalpinang City PMI, which took place at the PT DAK Selindung Office in Pangkalpinang on Friday, January 31, 2025.
The blood donation activity is a demonstration of the company’s concern for the community and aims to increase bloodstock to meet public needs.
As stated by the Medical Team of PMI Pangkalpinang, Berliano, the Pangkalpinang PMI needs 50-60 bags of blood per day to meet the needs of patients on Bangka Island.
"This is a challenge for PMI to fulfill the blood supply for the community in need. Meanwhile, the available stock at PMI is less than the daily requirement," he said during the blood donation event at PT DAK.
Berliano hopes that PT DAK will not only hold a blood donation event once a year but at least every six months. This is because regular blood donation has great benefits for the donors.
"The current need for blood on Bangka is 60 bags per day, while the available stock at PMI is far below the daily requirement. This is certainly a concern for all of us about the importance of donating blood because the blood we donate can save lives," he emphasized.
Meanwhile, PT DAK’s President Director, Bambang Wibisono, stated that the company holds a routine blood donation event to commemorate PT DAK's anniversary.
"We (PT DAK) want to contribute to PMI Pangkalpinang by helping to provide bloodstock at PMI, where every drop of blood we donate can save lives," he said.
Responding to the hopes of PMI Pangkalpinang, PT DAK's President Director called on PT DAK’s staff to hold blood donation drives every three months. This aims to help meet the blood supply needs at PMI.
The blood donation event held today at PT DAK collected dozens of blood bags that will be distributed to those in need. (*)
