PANGKALPINANG -- Implementing a corporate social responsibility (CSR) program is one of PT Timah's commitments to provide a positive impact on the community and surrounding environment.
PT Timah has various CSR programs in various sectors such as education, health, economy, and environment which are expected to provide community benefits for the people in the operational areas.
PT Timah's consistent commitment to implementing CSR programs is the company's effort to build a more sustainable and inclusive society and provide added value to communities around the mine.
In 2023, PT Timah distributed a budget of IDR 31.79 billion to implement the CSR program.
Some of the superior CSR programs implemented include fishing spots and coral gardens, Badau pineapples, and social security for fishermen, people with disabilities, and vulnerable groups.
From the education sector, the programs implemented include Timah Mengajar, Pemali Boarding School, and increasing teacher competency. Apart from that, there is a teacher literacy program and a disaster response ERG program.
"There is also a climate change mitigation program by planting mangroves in the company's operational areas," said PT Timah Corporate Secretary Abullah Umar at the Analyst Meeting, on Monday (6/5/2024).
Other CSR programs carried out by members of the MIND ID Mining Industry holding include infrastructure and social improvements, Oto Sihat, and a program to reduce stunting or Kemunting.
In the customary and cultural preservation sector, PT Timah is also increasing the capacity of the Lom indigenous community. Providing support for community customs and customs activities in the company's operational areas.
