KARIMUN -- Improving the skills of the community around the mine is one of the community empowerment programs carried out by PT Timah Tbk. To that end, PT Timah Tbk handed over assistance to the Bati Youth Association.
The assistance given by PT Timah Tbk to complete the facilities and infrastructure of the Citra Mandi Job Training Center managed by the Bati Youth Association. The Job Training Center, which is located on Jalan Aviation Sei Bati, Paman Village, Tebing District, Karimun Regency, is one of the places to improve the skills of young people.
Youth Association administrator, Bati Kurniawan said the equipment at their Job Training Center was still minimal, so it was also an obstacle for holding training.
"We plan to use this assistance to complete the equipment and infrastructure of the Citra Mandiri Job Training Center which is managed by the Youth," he said.
He said that the Citra Mandiri Job Training Center had actually been around for a long time, but due to the lack of facilities and infrastructure for job training, it was a bit unkempt.
Since 2020, Youth has taken the initiative to take over and be managed, even with minimal equipment, but until now there have been many graduates from BLK Citra Mandiri who have worked, either opening their own welding workshops or joining shipbuilding companies.
"We will use this assistance to add work equipment such as welding machines, grinders, materials for training, and others," he said.
Kurniawan recounted that in the Karimun district there are many shipbuilding companies that require skilled workers such as welding staff.
"For that, we want the community, especially the youth in Sei Bati, Pamak Village, to be able to take advantage of the opportunities that exist by having adequate skills and abilities," he said.
His party appreciates PT Timah Tbk for caring and handing over this assistance to their group.
"Thank you PT Timah for caring for the community and especially us Youth and the management of the Citra Mandiri Sei Bati Job Training Center, this assistance is really very useful for us," he said.
"Hopefully later with more adequate equipment we can help improve the skills and abilities of the youth here so that they are ready and able to compete in the world of work," he said.
