Improving Worship Comfort, PT TIMAH Provides Facility Assistance to Surau Baitussalam

KARIMUN -- As part of its commitment to supporting social and religious activities, PT TIMAH (Persero) has provided assistance for worship facilities in its operational areas. Most recently, PT TIMAH extended support to Surau Baitussalam, located on Sawang Road KM 7, Tanjung Batu Barat Village, Kundur District.

The assistance will be used to enhance the surau’s facilities and infrastructure through the installation of air conditioning units, which are expected to improve comfort for worshippers during religious services and various community religious activities at the newly completed surau.

Chairman of the Surau Baitussalam Construction Committee, Kohand Istiqlal, stated that the air conditioning units provided by PT TIMAH are an important necessity considering the size of the surau building, which measures approximately 11 x 14 meters.

“Alhamdulillah, PT TIMAH has helped us by providing air conditioners. Previously, we did not have any cooling system. With a building of this size, the air conditioners will make worshippers much more comfortable while performing their prayers,” he said.

He expressed his gratitude that the assistance request submitted to PT TIMAH received a positive response. According to him, the support is highly meaningful for the community, which has long hoped for more adequate worship facilities.

“Alhamdulillah, we have received assistance from PT TIMAH. We have often heard about PT TIMAH’s support for houses of worship, and now we are directly experiencing the benefits ourselves,” he added.

Kohand explained that the presence of Surau Baitussalam fulfills an important community need by providing a place of worship that is more accessible to local residents.

In addition to congregational prayers, Surau Baitussalam is expected to serve as a center for community religious activities, including Islamic study groups, which previously had to be held in residents’ homes due to the lack of a proper venue.

“The women’s Islamic study group can now hold its activities in this surau. Previously, gatherings had to be hosted in residents’ homes, so the presence of this surau is truly beneficial for the community,” he said.

He also expressed hope that PT TIMAH’s social assistance and community empowerment programs will continue, as they provide tangible benefits to the community, particularly in supporting religious and social activities.
