Improving the Quality of Life of Communities in the Mining Area, PT Timah Tbk Consistently Helps Communities Have Livable Homes

PANGKALPINANG -- Having a habitable home is one of the determining factors for improving people's quality of life. Realizing this, PT Timah Tbk often helps low-income people (MBR) to have livable houses.

After 2022, PT Timah Tbk will build 14 livable housing units spread across the company's operational areas. In 2023, this member of the MIND ID mining industry holding company will again build a livable housing unit for the residents of West Bangka.

In building livable houses, PT Timah Tbk also empowers the surrounding community, such as the workers who build it are local people. This is to encourage the community's economy.

Apart from that, PT Timah Tbk also often collaborates with the TNI, recently through the TMMD (TNI Manunggal Developing Villages) program, PT Timah Tbk built a livable house for Grandma Sarimah, a resident of Air Bulin Village, West Bangka Regency.

PT Timah Tbk has been carrying out this livable house building program for a long time, targeting low-income people and victims of natural disasters.

One of the recipients of assistance for livable houses from PT Timah Tbk, Granny Sarimah, said that she was endlessly grateful, because if she only relied on her own abilities, it felt like it would be impossible to repair her house.

"Thank you to all of you, who have built my house. Grandma can no longer build a house because she can't afford it and is old. Hopefully Allah will reward her, give her health and make more progress," said Grandma Sarimah, quoted from PT Timah Tbk's news some time ago .

Likewise, one of the recipients of livable house assistance from PT Timah Tbk, Muhammad Afizal (24), a resident of Sawang Laut Village, West Kundur District, Karimun Regency, previously did not expect that his house would be rebuilt by PT Timah Tbk.

His house was damaged by falling trees due to rain and wind so it could not be occupied.

"Thank God, now my house can be lived in by a small family and it looks more beautiful than before," said the man who works as a fisherman.

Head of Corporate Communications at PT Timah Tbk, Anggi Siahaan, said that PT Timah Tbk continues to be committed to supporting improving the quality of life of the community in the company's operational areas.

"Through the CSR program, PT Timah Tbk implements several social programs. One of them is the livable housing program which is expected to help people live comfortably and decently." Anggi said. (*)
