Implementing Various CSR Programs in Tanjung Gemuk Village, Meranti Regent Appreciates PT Timah Tbk

MERANTI – PT Timah Tbk continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting community development and environmental preservation through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs, which were carried out in Tanjung Gemuk Village, Rangsang District, on Tuesday (14/01/2025).

The activities, which took place at Parti Beach, included the handover of operational assistance to two mosques, the provision of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan insurance for local fishermen and farmers, and the planting of api-api mangroves as part of efforts to protect the coastal ecosystem and prevent abrasion.

The Regent of Kepulauan Meranti, Asmar, expressed appreciation for the commitment and concrete steps taken by PT Timah Tbk, which he believes have had a positive impact on the community and the environment.

"We would like to thank PT Timah for its attention and concern for the people of Kepulauan Meranti, particularly in Tanjung Gemuk Village. CSR programs like this are very important in supporting our efforts to improve the welfare of the community and preserve the environment. We hope this initiative can inspire other companies to contribute," said Asmar.

During this event, PT Timah Tbk provided operational assistance to Ar-Rahman Mosque in Tanjung Gemuk Village and Al-Jihad Fisabilillah Mosque in Tanjung Bakau Village.

Additionally, the company provided BPJS Ketenagakerjaan insurance for local fishermen and farmers as part of their commitment to social protection for workers in the informal sector.

PT Timah's Department Head of Corporate Communication, Anggi Siahaan, explained that the activity is part of the company’s ongoing commitment to contribute to the community and environment, particularly in its operational areas.

The mangrove planting also aims to preserve the coastal ecosystem while providing long-term benefits for future generations.

“We hope that this assistance can improve the welfare of the community, while the planting of api-api mangroves is one of our steps in preserving the coastal ecosystem,” he said.

This CSR activity was warmly welcomed by the residents of Tanjung Gemuk Village. The community hopes that similar programs will continue in the future to enhance their welfare and protect the environment in Kepulauan Meranti.
