BANGKA BARAT -- A total of 192 pairs of participants took part in the IKT 2025 Open Gaple Tournament held to celebrate the 26th Anniversary of the Timah Employee Association (IKT).
The event was officially opened by PT Timah's Sub Division Head of Processing and Refinery, Kopdi Saragih, along with the Chairman of IKT Mentok Region, Hazan Nazri, on Friday night (May 16, 2025), in the courtyard of the IKT Bangka Barat Regional Office, Sriwijaya Building, Mentok, Bangka Barat Regency.
The tournament, organized as an effort to foster harmony between PT Timah employees and the local community, was met with enthusiasm from participants and residents alike.
Chairman of IKT Mentok Region, Hazan Nazri, stated that the gaple tournament not only aims to enliven IKT’s anniversary but also serves as a platform to strengthen the bond between PT Timah employees and the community.
"On behalf of IKT, we extend our gratitude to all participants, the organizing committee who prepared this event, and PT Timah’s management for their full support. We apologize if there are any shortcomings in the implementation of this activity," he said.
He added that this year's tournament is open to the public, not only involving PT Timah employees but also participants from outside the company.
"If this year's event is successful, we hope to organize similar events in the future on a larger scale with even broader participation," Hazan added.
Meanwhile, PT Timah's Sub Division Head of Processing and Refinery, Kopdi Saragih, welcomed the tournament as a means to foster closeness between management, employees, and the community.
"This is a very positive activity. Through this tournament, we can connect, get to know each other, engage in discussions, and build camaraderie. This is what we hope for—an activity that grows from us and for us, with the spirit of togetherness and sportsmanship," said Kopdi.
He also expressed appreciation to all parties who contributed to the success of the gaple tournament in celebration of IKT’s 26th anniversary.
One of the participants, Deri Destriyadi, a resident of Teluk Rubiah Village, Mentok, appreciated and supported the event.
"This is a real effort by PT Timah, both management and employees, to connect with the community. Hopefully, this relationship continues not only during events but also in daily life," he said.
Similarly, Supriyanto, a resident of Puput Village, Mentok, said he was happy to take part in the gaple tournament, which for the first time brought together residents with PT Timah’s employees and management in a friendly atmosphere.
"We usually play gaple outside the PT Timah environment. Thankfully, this time we had the chance to join a tournament with employees and management. I hope events like this will continue to be held," he said.
