Hundreds of PT Timah Tbk Employees Collaborating with Communities to Clean Muara Tengkorak Beach

BANGKA -- To support tourism and the beauty of Muara Tengkorak Beach in Nelayan II Environment, Sungailiat District, Bangka Regency, Hundreds of PT Timah Tbk employees along with community groups, students from the PT Timah Tbk scholarship class program, Fishermen's PKK 2 and stakeholders held a beach clean-up Friday (14/7/2023).

Through the Clean Friday Movement, they collect dozens of trash bags in coastal areas such as plastic, wood, and other waste. The participants worked together and looked enthusiastic about carrying plastic waste. This activity was also attended by the Maritime and Fisheries Service of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, Sungailiat Archipelago Fisheries Port, Sungailiat Danpos Lanal, Airud Police, Sungailiat Military Command, Sungailiat Sub-District Head, HNSI Bangka Regency, students, Karang Taruna and Fishermen.

Beach cleaning is also an effort to control plastic waste in tourist spots.

General Manager of PT Timah Tbk Robertus Bambang Susilo said this beach clean-up activity was one of PT Timah Tbk's efforts to support tourism and protect the environment.

Robertus said the plan is to clean the beach regularly in the company's operational areas. Not only in Bangka but also in other tourist destinations.

"Hopefully this clean Friday will bring goodness to the environment and our society. This activity is attended by various levels of society ranging from students, the community, and stakeholders so this is also a friendly gathering. By cleaning this place, hopefully, it will become a more comfortable place to visit," said Robertus.

This activity was also appreciated by the Head of the Sungailiat Sub-District, Ramzi hoped that this activity could continue with other beaches and public open spaces. He mentioned that the Muara Tengkorak Beach area is a place for fishermen to anchor.

"We are very happy because if the beach is clean it is also comfortable for people to come, moreover this is close to the estuary where fishermen anchor. This beach also has good tourism potential," he said.

One of the Pemali SMAN 1 students from the PT Timah Tbk Scholarship Class program who took part in this activity, Veny Gambini, said that they were very happy to be involved in this activity, besides being able to see the beauty of the beaches, they were also involved in cleaning up this area.
"A clean beach will definitely attract tourist visits here, the beach is also pretty good. So it's nice to be involved in keeping the beach clean," She said.

In the same vein, the chairman of HNSI Bangka Lukman appreciated the beach clean-up efforts carried out by PT Timah Tbk. Moreover, this area is close to where the fishermen are anchored.

"This activity is very positive because we know cleanliness is part of faith. PT Timah Tbk also often cooperates with HNSI to carry out various activities. This beach cleaning activity is very good for maintaining cleanliness and it is also close to the estuary of fishermen," he said. (*)
