KUNDUR -- PT Timah collaborated with the Karimun Regency Cooperative, Micro Business, Trade, and ESDM Office to hold another Technical Guidance Program
on Institutional Management and Business Development for the board members of the Red and White Cooperative, held at the Multi-Purpose Hall of Wisma Timah Kundur on Thursday (August 14, 2025).
A total of 52 representatives from villages and neighborhoods in five districts of Kundur Island enthusiastically participated in the technical training. Through this training, it is hoped that cooperative managers can operate the Merah Putih Cooperative more effectively.
The Head of the Cooperative, Micro Business, Trade, and ESDM Department, Basori, expressed his appreciation for PT Timah's consistent support in developing cooperatives in the region.
According to him, PT Timah's role as a state-owned enterprise (BUMN) is not limited to cooperative development but also includes empowering SMEs and providing support across various sectors.
“This collaboration is an important step toward advancing cooperatives in Karimun District, enabling them to become a driving force for the local economy,” said Basori.
Meanwhile, the Head of Corporate Communication at PT Timah Tbk, Anggi Siahaan, explained that cooperatives play a strategic role in driving community economic growth, creating jobs, and improving the well-being of their members.
“Through this technical training, we hope that participants can acquire better management skills and effective, professional, and sustainable cooperative management strategies. We hope that the results of this training can be directly applied in the field so that cooperatives become stronger, more independent, and able to compete in the modern era, thereby improving the welfare of the community,” explained Anggi.
One of the training participants, Agus Kurniawan, admitted that this activity was very beneficial, especially in understanding the management of the red-and-white cooperative in accordance with applicable regulations.
“We are very happy with this training because it provides meaningful lessons so that we can manage the red-and-white cooperative well and create economic impacts for the community. Of course, there will be many challenges at the beginning, and such support is very much needed,” said Agus.
Previously, PT Timah had also conducted this training program in Karimun District, held at the Nilam Sari Building on Wednesday (July 13, 2025).
Through this activity, PT Timah once again reaffirmed its commitment to support the strengthening of the people's economy, including through the empowerment of red-and-white cooperatives in its operational areas. (*)
