EAST BELITUNG – Through its social and environmental responsibility program, PT Timah remains committed to assisting communities in mining areas. This time, PT Timah helped renovate the house of Ahmad Syarif, a resident of Lalang Village, East Belitung Regency.
As is known, the roof of Ahmad Syarif’s house was damaged due to its proximity to the sea, where strong winds frequently hit the area. The assistance was handed over directly to Ahmad Syarif on Friday (February 14, 2025).
Ahmad Syarif and his family were living in a house with an uninhabitable roof. Seeing this situation, PT Timah provided assistance to repair the roof, making the home safer and more comfortable to live in.
Lalang Village Head, Muhammad Yahya, expressed concern over the poor condition of Ahmad Syarif’s roof.
"The roof was destroyed, with holes and leaks, because it’s close to the beach and often exposed to strong coastal winds," he explained.
Muhammad Yahya appreciated PT Timah’s care for the local community. According to him, PT Timah has always been present to help those in need.
"Since our parents’ time, PT Timah has never missed a chance to assist our community. We are very grateful for PT Timah’s concern," he said.
PT Timah’s concern for the local people, especially through its social assistance programs, has been beneficial to many residents in Lalang Village.
Not only does PT Timah assist with home repairs, but they also frequently provide various other forms of help that support the well-being of residents, such as assistance with public facilities and community economic empowerment. (*)
