PANGKALPINANG -- PT TIMAH Tbk continues to strengthen its commitment to fostering social harmony and improving the quality of community places of worship. In recent years, the company has consistently provided assistance to houses of worship across different religions within its operational areas, including mosques, prayer rooms, churches, temples, and shrines.
This initiative is part of the company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR), which focuses not only on economic development but also on building social and spiritual well-being in the community. Support for places of worship has been implemented in the Riau Islands Province, Riau Province, and the Bangka Belitung Islands Province.
In 2023, PT TIMAH Tbk assisted a total of 51 houses of worship. This number increased in 2024, with 107 houses of worship receiving support. As of the third quarter of 2025, PT TIMAH Tbk has provided assistance to 68 houses of worship.
The assistance provided by the company is tailored to the needs of each house of worship. Support includes building renovations, procurement of facilities and infrastructure, enhancement of comfort and convenience, and support for community religious activities.
Anggi Siahaan, Department Head of Corporate Communication at PT TIMAH Tbk, stated that aid for houses of worship is an effort by the company to promote harmonious community life and is part of the company’s commitment to supporting social and religious aspects of the community.
“Places of worship are not only spaces for performing spiritual obligations but also venues for the community to strengthen unity and engage in social activities,” said Anggi.
One of the mosques that received assistance from PT TIMAH Tbk is Masjid Al-Hikmah in Pangkalpinang City. Irmia Ahmal, Chairperson of the Masjid Al-Hikmah Foundation, explained that the mosque was renovated to accommodate more worshippers.
“Masjid Al-Hikmah is not just a place of worship but also an iconic part of the history of the Temberan community. We are very grateful that PT TIMAH could assist with the renovation of the mosque,” she said.
Similarly, Sukarman, administrator of Masjid Al Iman in Kundur Village, stated that the assistance from PT TIMAH Tbk was used to improve the drainage system around the mosque. During the rainy season, water often floods the area, affecting the comfort of worshippers.
“This assistance will be used to repair the drainage around the mosque. During the rainy season, water from the surrounding streets often floods the area, so we are building proper drainage to prevent water accumulation around the mosque,” he said.
PT TIMAH Tbk emphasizes that support for houses of worship will continue to be a company priority. In line with its sustainability vision, the company will continue to participate in social activities and make tangible contributions to improving the welfare of communities around its operational areas.
