WEST BANGKA -- The Healthy Week event held in celebration of PT Timah Tbk’s 49th anniversary at the Soccer Field of the PT Timah Complex in Mentok, West Bangka Regency, was not only a moment of togetherness but also brought blessings for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the region, on Sunday (August 3, 2025).
Carrying the theme "For the Red and White," this event by the member of the Indonesian Mining Industry Holding MIND ID also served as a platform for local MSMEs to promote and sell their products through the MSME Bazaar.
PT Timah provided dozens of free booths for MSME players to offer traditional culinary delights from West Bangka.
A variety of traditional food and beverages such as laksa, pentiaw, empek-empek, tompek silong, pelite, as well as trendy drinks, were available to delight participants of the fun walk, including members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), directors, and commissioners of PT Timah.
The MSME booths drew significant attention. West Bangka Regent Markus, along with Forkopimda officials and PT Timah executives, visited several booths to sample the local cuisine. Their enthusiasm also reflected support for West Bangka, known as the City of a Thousand Cakes.
Ninik, an MSME entrepreneur from Tanjung Sub-district, said her sales skyrocketed thanks to the opportunity to sell at PT Timah’s Healthy Week.
“Alhamdulillah, our income today is three times higher than usual. We sold hot drinks, juices, and modern beverages. This event is a big help, especially during this sluggish economic period. It opens great opportunities for us as vendors,” she said.
Popi Yanti, an MSME owner from Belo Laut Village, shared similar sentiments. She sold drinks made from stefi, a local plant known for its health benefits, and said the event was very beneficial.
“It’s been incredibly helpful. Besides increasing our income, we also got to network with fellow MSME players. It’s a motivation for us to keep growing our business. Thank you to PT Timah for providing the facilities and promotional space for us,” she said.
West Bangka Regent Markus expressed appreciation for the Healthy Week event as part of PT Timah’s 49th anniversary celebration. He saw it as a tangible example of synergy between the company, local government, and the community.
“We appreciate PT Timah’s commitment to regional development—not only economically, but also socially and environmentally. We hope that in its 49th year, PT Timah continues to grow, strengthen collaboration, and thrive together with the community,” Markus said.
The Healthy Week activities in West Bangka began with a fun walk, followed by a zumba session, entertainment stage, and the MSME Bazaar. PT Timah also distributed hundreds of prizes to participants in the event.
The Healthy Week in West Bangka was attended by PT Timah’s Director of Human Resources Andi Seto Gadhista Asapa, Commissioner Rizani Usman, West Bangka Regent Markus, West Bangka Police Chief Pradana Aditya Nugraha, District Attorney Bayu Sugiri, and members of Forkopimda.
PT Timah’s 49th anniversary celebration kicked off on July 25, 2025, and will culminate on August 24, 2025, in Pangkalpinang, featuring a variety of events designed to benefit both the community and employees.
