KARIMUN -- Amid the warm atmosphere of togetherness during PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk’s Ramadan Safari event in the Kundur area, H. Idrus Usman appeared joyful. A smile never left his face when the host called his name to come to the stage representing the coastal fishermen of Gemuruh Village, Karimun Regency, to receive a package of basic food assistance from PT TIMAH.
Idrus is the head of the fishermen in Gemuruh Village, overseeing 18 Joint Business Groups (KUB) with 207 members. He is also one of the residents who works daily as a fisherman. He expressed his happiness and gratitude for PT TIMAH’s concern for the fishermen.
“Thank you to PT TIMAH for caring about and supporting the community. Hopefully PT TIMAH’s production will continue to improve and remain safe,” he said.
According to him, PT TIMAH consistently provides assistance to communities in the company’s operational areas, especially during the month of Ramadan.
“Every year, especially during Ramadan, I receive assistance from PT TIMAH. My highest appreciation goes to PT TIMAH for its strong concern for fishermen along the Kundur coast,” he said.
For Idrus, the distribution of basic food packages containing rice, cooking oil, sugar, and other food supplies is not merely material assistance. It is also a form of care that gives him strength in facing life’s challenges.
“This food package helps us a lot, especially at the end of Ramadan. We are grateful that in the next few days we do not have to worry too much about food needs at home. Alhamdulillah, PT TIMAH often supports and responds to what we need,” he said. (*)
