Golden Generation Free from Stunting, PT Timah Tbk Launches the Kemunting Program in Mining Areas

PANGKALPINANG -- PT Timah Tbk continues to demonstrate its commitment to improving public health, one of which is through stunting prevention. To support the Government’s efforts in preventing and reducing stunting, PT Timah Tbk has introduced the Kemunting Program (Stunting Reduction Movement).

The Kemunting Program is an initiative by PT Timah aimed at preventing stunting, targeting pregnant women and children under five from low-income families living around mining areas. The program’s goal is to help families become more self-reliant in improving nutrition, thereby creating a higher-quality generation for a better future.

In addition, the Kemunting Program also engages students as part of educational efforts to prevent stunting.

PT Timah Tbk, in collaboration with the Indonesian Breastfeeding Association (AIMI) Bangka Belitung, has held two stunting prevention awareness sessions for students, including scholarship recipients from PT Timah Tbk in Pemali Village.

The Kemunting Program has also been implemented in Nelayan II Village, Sungailiat, Bangka Regency, providing education on stunting prevention and management. The program involved teenagers, stunted children and their parents, health cadres, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers. During the event, supplementary food was also distributed to children with stunting.

Anggi Siahaan, Department Head of Corporate Communication at PT Timah, stated that stunting is a serious concern as it directly impacts the nation’s future. For this reason, PT Timah is working hand in hand with the Government to address and prevent stunting.

In addition to focusing on nutritional improvement, PT Timah also encourages community involvement through posyandu cadre training, the provision of supporting health facilities, free health services via the Mobile Health Clinic, and healthy lifestyle campaigns.

“Reducing stunting rates is a long-term investment for Indonesia. Through the Kemunting Program, PT Timah plays an active role in creating the Golden Generation 2045 that is healthier, smarter, and of higher quality,” he said.

With its continuous commitment, PT Timah hopes to support the national target of reducing stunting rates while strengthening the company’s contribution to sustainable development. (*)
