From the Mines to the Community: PT TIMAH Tbk and Partners Distribute Food Packages and Support the Local Economy of Tanjung Ratu Hamlet

BANGKA -- The presence of a mining company not only contributes to regional economic growth but also brings social benefits to the community. This is reflected in various empowerment programs and social assistance initiatives routinely carried out by the company.

In PT TIMAH Tbk’s operational areas, the distribution of food packages has become one of the company’s efforts to help ease the burden of the community, particularly vulnerable groups and low-income residents.

Most recently, PT TIMAH Tbk, together with its business partner CV Tiga Saudara, distributed hundreds of food packages to residents of Tanjung Ratu Hamlet, Rebo Village, Sungailiat District, Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province.

Ardi Bin Holi, Treasurer of Jami’ Al Barakah Mosque in Tanjung Ratu Hamlet and Head of Development for Rebo Village, said that this year they have distributed 550 food packages in collaboration with PT TIMAH Tbk and its business partner.

“In 2025, Alhamdulillah we have distributed 550 packages. In the first distribution, we handed out around 219 packages, and today we are handing out 331 packages. This all took place within the last two months,” he said.

Ardi added that beyond food assistance, mining activities in their hamlet have helped support local development. He explained that in 2017 they began constructing their first mosque, and along the way, other prayer facilities also received assistance. By the end of 2022, four mosques had been completed.

Assistance from the mining CSR program has been directed to initiatives that benefit the entire community.

“The construction of the mosques was funded by the tin mining activities in Tanjung Ratu Hamlet. Everything is managed transparently and organized into programs. One such program that has already been realized is the construction of a refillable drinking water depot, and we also prioritize programs for the community, such as distributing food packages,” he explained.

Ardi also mentioned their plans to expand into the agriculture and trade sectors.

“We package these initiatives into programs because they are meant for the greater good. Tin has long been a driving force of regional development. I remember during the establishment of this province, tin was one of the key sectors, followed by plantations, agriculture, and tourism. We adopted this approach, hoping that the tin resources in our area can spark economic growth in our hamlet. From there, we develop programs that can help us become self-sufficient after mining activities conclude,” he said.

Ardi also expressed his appreciation for the contributions and presence of PT TIMAH Tbk in their area.

“Thank you, PT TIMAH Tbk. With the company operating in our hamlet, we have received tremendous benefits. Today, we are able to distribute food packages, build a water refill depot, construct mosques, and many other things we cannot mention one by one,” he concluded. (*)
