From Medical Assistance to Nutrition Education, PT TIMAH Tbk Brings Hope to the Community

PANGKALPINANG -- Not only focusing on mining activities, PT TIMAH Tbk continues to demonstrate its commitment to improving the quality of life in its operational areas through various social and environmental responsibility (TJSL) programs, particularly in the health sector.

As a company operating across coastal and island regions, PT TIMAH Tbk consistently implements various health programs that directly address the needs of communities surrounding its mining areas. These initiatives serve as a tangible expression of the company’s concern for supporting community welfare and health standards.

One of PT TIMAH Tbk’s concrete commitments to improving public health is the introduction of the PT TIMAH Tbk Health Mobile, a free healthcare service for the community. PT TIMAH Tbk currently operates three Health Mobile units located on Bangka Island and Belitung Island in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, as well as on Kundur Island in Karimun Regency.

Since its launch in 2020, the PT TIMAH Tbk Health Mobile has served tens of thousands of people in the company’s operational areas by visiting hamlets, villages, and public facilities. In the third quarter of 2025, the Health Mobile visited 41 locations, providing healthcare services to 5,020 residents.

In addition to offering free medical services, the Health Mobile regularly conducts basic health education sessions. Its presence also helps improve access to healthcare services for local communities.

One resident who received medical care from the PT TIMAH Tbk Health Mobile, Saimin Saleh (78) from West Bangka, said he was very grateful for the free healthcare services and hoped the program would continue.
“This program is very helpful, especially for us elderly people. The service comes directly to our area, so we don’t have to travel far to the health center. I hope this activity can be done more often,” said Saimin.

PT TIMAH Tbk also provides medical treatment assistance to low-income individuals who require further medical attention. This program is designed to ensure that underprivileged communities can still access proper healthcare without being burdened by high costs. Hundreds of people have already benefited from PT TIMAH Tbk’s medical assistance.

One of them is Zahra (13), a resident of Teluk Radang Village, North Kundur District, Karimun Regency. Zahra’s mother, Sartini, expressed her gratitude to PT TIMAH Tbk for easing the financial burden of her daughter’s medical treatment.

As a parent, they were confused because their child had been sick for three months and hadn’t recovered. With help from PT TIMAH, they plan to go to Jakarta for further treatment.

“To ensure better care, we were referred to a hospital in Jakarta to meet with specialists in hematology and infection. Thank you, PT TIMAH Tbk, for your support,” she added.

In an effort to reduce stunting rates in mining-area communities, PT TIMAH Tbk also runs the Kemunting Program (Stunting Reduction Initiative). This program focuses on educating pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, students, and health cadres about stunting prevention. PT TIMAH Tbk also provides nutritious supplementary food for undernourished children.

This initiative aims to help improve children’s nutritional status while building parents’ awareness of the importance of healthy eating habits from an early age.

PT TIMAH Tbk collaborates with the Indonesian Breastfeeding Association (AIMI) Bangka Belitung to actively promote stunting prevention and management education in the company’s operational areas. This includes training sessions on how to turn local food ingredients into nutritious meals.

AIMI Bangka Belitung Vice Chair, Mi La, said that together with PT TIMAH Tbk, they have conducted healthy nutrition awareness programs for teenagers, breastfeeding and complementary feeding (MPASI) education, nutrition learning classes, and training for breastfeeding companion cadres.

“Together with PT TIMAH Tbk, we have set clear targets and objectives in the company’s operational areas, ensuring our programs meet community needs. We also conduct regular monitoring so that the goal of supporting the government in reducing stunting rates can be achieved,” she said.

She hopes PT TIMAH Tbk will expand the reach of its stunting prevention and education programs. With the widespread awareness efforts led by PT TIMAH Tbk and AIMI Bangka Belitung, it is expected that future generations will grow up healthy and intelligent.

“By promoting breastfeeding from birth, we can prevent malnutrition that may lead to stunting. Combined with complementary feeding made from local ingredients, mothers are encouraged to use vegetables and protein sources available around their homes. This education helps mothers pay more attention to the quantity and quality of nutrition consumed by their families, especially their children,” she said.

Through these initiatives, PT TIMAH Tbk strives to be part of the solution in improving public health, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) No. 3 on Good Health and Well-Being.

The company’s consistent implementation of health programs reflects that PT TIMAH Tbk is not only focused on business performance but also carries a strong social responsibility toward the communities and environments around its operational areas.

“PT TIMAH Tbk is committed to continuing to contribute to community welfare, particularly through sustainable health programs. We want to ensure that people living near our operations can live healthy and productive lives,” said PT TIMAH Tbk’s Department Head of Corporate Communication, Anggi Siahaan.

With the spirit of “Synergy for a Healthy Indonesia,” PT TIMAH Tbk continues to expand its healthcare programs as a tangible effort to bring positive impacts to both society and the environment.
