From Jakarta to Kundur, PT TIMAH’s Anniversary Blood Donation Drive Collects 576 Bags

PANGKALPINANG — The spirit of sharing and caring for others was an integral part of the activities commemorating the 50th Anniversary of PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk. Carrying the theme “Tin for the People,” the company simultaneously organized blood donation drives in several operational areas across the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, Riau Islands Province, and Jakarta.

The humanitarian initiative successfully collected 576 bags of blood from donors consisting of employees, business partners, and members of the community.

Blood donation drives were held in Sungailiat and Belinyu in Bangka Regency; Koba in Central Bangka Regency; Toboali in South Bangka Regency; Mentok in West Bangka Regency; Kundur in the Riau Islands; and Jakarta.

The blood donation drive was one of the activities held as part of PT TIMAH’s 50th Anniversary Service Month, organized as a demonstration of the company’s concern for the community’s need for blood supplies.

One of the participants in the blood donation drive in Jakarta, Difky Arisitiana, expressed his enthusiasm for once again participating in a social activity organized by PT TIMAH.

He said that blood donation not only provides benefits to people in need but also offers a positive experience for donors.

“I’m happy to be able to participate. Besides helping people who need blood, I also feel fresher after donating because the body will produce new blood cells. So the benefits can be felt by both the recipients and the donors,” he said.

He also encouraged people who meet the necessary health requirements not to hesitate to donate blood regularly.

“If your health condition allows it, don’t hesitate to donate blood. Besides being good for our bodies, the blood we donate is also greatly needed by people undergoing medical treatment. Hopefully, more people will be inspired to share through blood donation,” he said.

A similar spirit was evident at the blood donation drive in Kundur, Riau Islands. One of the donors, Suharjo, a resident of Bedeng Komplek, said he was happy to once again participate in the blood donation activity held as part of PT TIMAH’s 50th Anniversary Service Month.

According to him, blood donation has become one of the ways he regularly shows his concern for others, both through PT TIMAH’s activities and those organized by other institutions.

“I’m happy to be able to participate in the blood donation drive as part of PT TIMAH’s 50th Anniversary Service Month. Besides being good for our health, donating blood is also a way for us to help people who are in need. Hopefully, activities like this will continue because the benefits are truly felt by the community,” he said.

Suharjo hopes that more people will make blood donation a positive habit.

“I’m happy and grateful to be able to donate blood today. I also encourage my friends to share through blood donation so that we can stay healthy and fit while helping others,” he said.

Support for PT TIMAH’s blood donation initiative was also expressed by South Bangka Deputy Regent and Chairman of the South Bangka Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), Debby Vita Dewi.

She said the activity was highly relevant to the community’s needs, as the demand for blood in South Bangka Regency remains relatively high.

“As the Chairwoman of PMI South Bangka, I know that the demand for blood in South Bangka Regency is very high. Therefore, it is very appropriate for PT TIMAH to organize this activity,” said Debby.

According to her, the involvement of PT TIMAH employees in the blood donation drive demonstrates that the company’s concern is not only reflected through programs, but also through direct humanitarian action.

“I truly appreciate that the employees are not merely focused on their work, but also have a strong sense of humanity and are willing to donate their blood to the people of South Bangka. It is truly remarkable,” she said.

Debby hopes that the spirit of sharing and caring can be maintained and further strengthened so that more people can benefit from such initiatives.

She also extended her congratulations on PT TIMAH’s 50th Anniversary and expressed her hope that the company would continue to grow and provide benefits to the community.

“Happy 50th Anniversary to PT TIMAH. May PT TIMAH continue to thrive, achieve greater success, and consistently provide meaningful benefits to the people of South Bangka,” she concluded.

Through the blood donation drive, the company not only commemorated five decades of its journey but also encouraged its employees and the wider community to turn the spirit of sharing into tangible action. (*)
