From Education to Healthcare, Tens of Thousands Benefit from PT Timah Tbk’s CSR Programs

PANGKALPINANG -- PT Timah Tbk’s commitment to supporting sustainable development through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs continues to bring real impact to communities. A total of 46,117 people benefited from PT Timah Tbk’s CSR programs in the first half of 2025.

As a member of the Mining Industry Holding MIND ID, PT Timah Tbk carried out 479 CSR activities in the first semester of 2025 across its operational areas in Bangka Belitung Islands Province, Riau Province, and Riau Islands Province.

PT Timah’s CSR programs cover a wide range of sectors, including education, healthcare, economic empowerment, environment, and social infrastructure. Each program is designed to address community needs while also supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Some of PT Timah Tbk’s flagship CSR programs include the Pemali Boarding School, mangrove planting, food security programs, Oto Sihat program, Kemunting program, coral garden program, fish shelters and squid attractors, cultural preservation of Gebong Memarong, livable housing assistance, and cooperative development.

One of the most impactful programs is the provision of free healthcare services through the Mobile Health Clinic, which has benefited 4,188 people.

Educational assistance is also provided through scholarships, such as the Pemali Boarding School program that grants high school scholarships to 108 students. In addition, environmental initiatives such as reforestation and conservation have contributed positively to maintaining ecosystem balance.

Alongside its CSR programs, the publicly listed company TINS also supports MSME development through the Micro and Small Business Funding Program (PUMK) as part of its efforts to stimulate local economies. This includes skills training for MSME entrepreneurs.

“PT Timah designs its CSR programs to be sustainable and involve communities as a form of empowerment. These CSR programs also cover various sectors such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, economy, and MSMEs, with the goal of stimulating economic growth in communities,” said PT Timah Tbk’s Department Head of Corporate Communication, Anggi Siahaan.

Hari, a resident who benefited from PT Timah’s squid attractor sinking program, said the initiative provides alternative productive activities for coastal communities who usually depend on weather conditions to go fishing. With this program, people can continue working and earning income while also contributing to marine ecosystem preservation.

“Alhamdulillah, we feel very helped. Normally, we only rely on our main job, but now we can earn extra income by making these squid attractors. It really helps with our daily needs,” Hari said.

Furthermore, the program is expected to provide long-term benefits. The squid attractors sunk into the sea will create artificial ecosystems that encourage the growth of fish and squid populations, gradually increasing fishermen’s catches.

Similarly, Aihua, a resident of Central Bangka who benefited from PT Timah Tbk’s Mobile Health Clinic, said the service has been a great help for her village in Kebintik.

“The free health checkups at PT Timah’s Mobile Health Clinic today were very helpful, especially in terms of costs. We don’t have to travel far to health facilities, just come to the village hall. Hopefully, this can be held regularly,” she said.
