From Cakes to Chips, PT TIMAH Tbk Boosts Revenue of 28 MSMEs During Ramadan

PANGKALPINANG -- PT TIMAH Tbk continues to demonstrate its commitment to driving community economic growth, particularly for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), during the month of Ramadan.

Through its Safari Ramadan program held across various operational areas, PT TIMAH involved 28 local MSMEs by purchasing their products as gifts distributed to the public and employees.

Through this initiative, PT TIMAH procured 10,730 packs of MSME products, ranging from traditional foods and cookies to a variety of other locally processed goods. This effort is not only part of the company’s social initiatives but also provides direct economic impact for business owners.

One MSME owner who directly benefited from this program is Nurlela, a home-based entrepreneur from Air Raya, Tanjungpandan, Belitung Regency.

She shared that orders from PT TIMAH brought significant blessings amid the surge in demand during Ramadan.

“Thank God, this has been a great blessing for us. During Ramadan, orders increase significantly, including those from PT TIMAH,” she said.

According to her, production rises substantially during Ramadan compared to normal days. Under regular conditions, production is not carried out daily, but during Ramadan, demand continues to grow in preparation for Eid.

“On normal days, we don’t always produce every day. But during Ramadan, demand increases every year. In addition to daily consumption, many people also buy for Eid preparations,” she explained.

In running her business, Nurlela also empowers local workers. Currently, around five employees assist in the production process.

“With orders like this, it really helps us, including our workers. They also benefit from it,” she added.

Nurlela has been a fostered partner of PT TIMAH for about six years. Initially, she only produced banana chips, but over time her business has grown to include various product variants.

She also expressed appreciation for PT TIMAH’s support, which goes beyond product purchases and includes promotional assistance through various activities, such as at Rumah BUMN and MSME galleries.

“PT TIMAH often helps promote our products. We hope this support continues and that more MSME products can be empowered in the future,” she said.

Similarly, Rini Erzaliana stated that her involvement in PT TIMAH’s activities has had a positive impact on her business, particularly in increasing productivity and sales revenue.

“Thank God, it has been very helpful. Suddenly, there was a large order from PT TIMAH for an event, which significantly boosted our revenue,” said the owner of Primadona.

She mentioned that her business prepared up to 790 packages of products consisting of various snacks such as rengginang, chocolate bananas, sweet bananas, cassava chips with sweet corn flavor, taro chips, and peyek.

“During Ramadan, revenue and production naturally increase. With orders from PT TIMAH, it further boosts our income and motivates us as MSMEs,” she said.

According to Rini, PT TIMAH’s support is very meaningful for MSMEs, especially amid declining consumer purchasing power in recent times.

In addition to increasing sales, PT TIMAH also provides promotional opportunities for MSMEs by involving them in various exhibitions and bazaars.

“We were once invited to participate in an exhibition during Mother’s Day celebrations. So it’s not just about boosting sales, but also helping with marketing so our products become more widely known,” she added.
