PANGKALPINANG -- Medical expenses can be a significant challenge for people undergoing treatment, particularly for families whose loved ones require advanced medical care outside their home regions. Through its Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) Program, PT TIMAH Tbk provides financial assistance for medical treatment to communities across the company’s operational areas.
Throughout the first half of 2026, PT TIMAH provided medical assistance to 22 residents who needed support for healthcare and treatment. The assistance covered various needs, including medical expenses, medications, medical procedures, transportation, and accommodation during treatment.
One of the beneficiaries is Inayah Athifa Zahra, an eight-month-old baby from Air Rayak, Tanjungpandan, Belitung Regency, who is currently undergoing intensive medical treatment in Jakarta.
Inayah’s mother, Rika, said her daughter has a condition related to head circumference development and neurological issues. The assistance from PT TIMAH has been used by the family to help cover the cost of medications needed throughout Inayah’s treatment.
“Alhamdulillah, the assistance has been very helpful in covering my daughter’s medical expenses and medications. I hope PT TIMAH can continue helping people who are struggling to afford medical treatment,” she said.
Similar assistance was also provided to Muhammad Al Fasha, a resident of Pangkalarang, Pangkalbalam District, Pangkalpinang, who is undergoing treatment for a heart condition.
PT TIMAH’s assistance has been used to help cover his medical expenses as well as accommodation costs during treatment in Jakarta.
Al Fasha’s mother, Wahyuni, said the support has greatly helped her family manage the ongoing costs of his treatment. Before receiving the assistance, she had even sold her vehicle to help cover travel and medical expenses.
As a single parent who relies on temporary jobs for income, the cost of medical treatment outside the region has been a significant challenge. The assistance has therefore not only eased the family’s financial burden but also allowed them to focus more on supporting Al Fasha throughout his treatment.
“I hope my son’s treatment goes smoothly and that he recovers soon. I am very grateful to PT TIMAH for the assistance,” she said. (*)
PT TIMAH’s support has also been felt by the family of an 11-year-old child from Tanjung Sari, Lubuk Village, Kundur District, Karimun Regency, Riau Islands.
The child required medical treatment, including surgery at a heart hospital in Jakarta, after experiencing weight loss, shortness of breath, and fatigue during physical activity.
The child’s mother, Dahliana, said PT TIMAH’s assistance was used to cover various needs during the treatment process in Jakarta, including transportation, meals, and accommodation.
“Alhamdulillah, the assistance from PT TIMAH has been very helpful, especially for accommodation and meals. This support has significantly eased our burden,” Dahliana said.
Through its TJSL Program, PT TIMAH continues to support the needs of communities across its operational areas, including in the healthcare sector. Medical assistance is one of the company’s initiatives to help people access healthcare services when they face conditions requiring further medical treatment. (*)
