BANGKA -- PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk, through its Division Engineering Operation Excellence, together with the Environmental Agency (DLH) of Bangka Regency, Lanal Babel, Bakti Timah Hospital (RSBT) Sungailiat, and the Timah Employees’ Wives Association (IIKT) Sungailiat, carried out a “Friday Clean-Up” community service activity at Taman Sari Sungailiat, Bangka Regency, on Friday (April 10, 2026).
This activity is part of the commitment of PT TIMAH and its stakeholders in Bangka Regency to create a clean environment in order to support a healthier community.
“Activities like this clean-up should be carried out more often to achieve a healthier community in Bangka Regency,” said Satalia, a representative of RSBT Sungailiat management.

In addition to the clean-up, the activity also provided free health check-ups, including blood pressure and blood sugar screenings.
During the event, Lanal Babel deployed 40 personnel who actively participated in creating a clean and healthy environment within the community.
“We will continue to synergize with PT TIMAH and Danantara Indonesia to provide the greatest possible benefits to the community,” said Maritime Potential Staff Officer (Pasiter) of Lanal Babel, Captain Achmad Ronny.
Similarly, Sungailiat Subdistrict Head Lingga Pranata also participated in the clean-up activity. According to him, waste management issues in Bangka Regency are quite serious.
“It is necessary for all of us to work together to solve household waste problems in Bangka Regency. Activities like this must continue to be encouraged while also raising awareness about the impacts of poor household waste management,” said Lingga.
He added that the public also needs to be educated about types of waste, how to manage them, and how to sort them properly, as waste management depends greatly on whether the waste is organic or inorganic.
During the clean-up activity, Taman Sari was bustling with residents jogging and school children engaging in activities in the area.
Desta Wibawa Ariguna (12), a student from SD Setia Budi Sungailiat, said that Taman Sari is a well-equipped place to play.
“Here we can play volleyball, kasti, soccer, run around, and since our house is nearby, we come here to play every day,” he said.
Previously, last week, PT TIMAH also held a clean-up activity in the same area as part of its support for the Indonesia ASRI movement.
Through routine asset maintenance programs and consistent environmental preservation initiatives, PT TIMAH remains committed to creating clean and healthy public spaces for communities in its operational areas. (*)
