BANGKA -- A total of 154 residents took advantage of the free medical check-up services provided during PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk’s 50th Anniversary Community Service Month at the company’s Division of Engineering Operation Excellence in Sungailiat, Bangka Regency, on Monday (July 27, 2026).
The free medical check-ups are part of the 50th Anniversary Community Service Month, which carries the theme “Tin for the People” and will be held across all of PT TIMAH’s operational areas.
The program provides an opportunity for local residents to receive free health screenings, medical consultations, and medications based on their individual healthcare needs.
One of the beneficiaries was 61-year-old Yurni, who had been experiencing numbness and stiffness in her fingers for approximately two months.
She said this was her first time receiving healthcare services through PT TIMAH’s Mobile Health Clinic. As a participant in Indonesia’s Referral Program (Program Rujuk Balik/PRB), she also received several medications following her examination.
“This is my first time receiving treatment through the Mobile Health Clinic. My blood pressure was quite high. I’m a PRB patient, and today I received vitamins for my finger pain, blood pressure medication, and medication for bone pain,” she said.
Yurni expressed her appreciation for the healthcare services provided by PT TIMAH’s medical team. According to her, everyone—from the doctors to the registration staff—was friendly and professional.
She hopes the free medical check-up program will continue on a regular basis, as it provides significant benefits to the community, especially those with limited access to healthcare services.
“I hope PT TIMAH continues to thrive and achieve even greater success. If possible, I hope programs like this can be held every year. May PT TIMAH continue to prosper and keep helping the community, especially those who need it most,” she said.
A similar sentiment was shared by 65-year-old Parinem, another resident who participated in the free medical check-up. She had recently been experiencing knee pain and high blood pressure.
She learned about PT TIMAH’s free health screening program and decided to visit after completing her therapy session.
According to Parinem, the examination gave her a better understanding of her health condition. She also felt more reassured after receiving medical advice and the appropriate medications.
“Two weeks ago, we checked my blood pressure at home, and it was 159. I’m happy because now I know my health condition and received medication. I don’t have to worry anymore. The doctor told me my blood pressure and cholesterol are high, so I need to take better care of myself,” she said.
She added that she was grateful for the free healthcare services because residents no longer needed to travel long distances to receive medical treatment.
“Alhamdulillah, we’re very happy with this program. We don’t have to travel far to the hospital, so it really makes things easier for us,” she said.
As a family member of a retired PT TIMAH employee, Parinem also expressed her hope that the company would continue to grow and serve the community.
“I hope PT TIMAH continues to prosper like it used to. We’re also a retired PT TIMAH family—my husband retired in 2008. Hopefully PT TIMAH will become even stronger and more successful in the future,” she added.
Meanwhile, Bangka Regency Head of Health Office Nora Sukma Dewi welcomed the free medical check-up initiative organized by PT TIMAH. She described the program as a strategic example of collaboration between the government and the private sector in improving public health.
“This is a highly strategic program that has been well managed. It reflects the concept of a public-private partnership. The regional government has goals, missions, and targets to achieve, while PT TIMAH, as a strategic partner, helps accelerate those goals through initiatives such as free medical check-ups,” she explained.
According to Nora, the program also aligns with the national health screening initiative. She believes stronger collaboration between the government and the company can accelerate development targets while expanding the benefits enjoyed by the community.
“When we collaborate and work in synergy, the goals set by both the regional and central governments can be achieved more quickly and create broader positive impacts for the public,” she said.
Nora added that PT TIMAH has consistently demonstrated its commitment to supporting communities through a wide range of programs. She hopes the partnership between PT TIMAH and the regional government will continue to grow stronger and expand further.
“PT TIMAH’s commitment to supporting and caring for the community is beyond question. Today we see it through healthcare services, but beyond that, the company also runs many other initiatives in environmental protection and community development,” she said.
She also expressed her hope that these ongoing programs would continue to be maintained and strengthened through even closer collaboration.
“Our hope is not only for the continuity of these programs but also for stronger and better synergy. If possible, their reach should be expanded. The good work that has already been established should continue and grow,” she concluded. (*)
