BANGKA BARAT—PT Timah continues to build harmony and collaboration with communities around its mining areas, one way of which is through sports activities and support for community sports facilities.
This initiative was exemplified by the Division of Processing and Refinery, which held a friendly football match with the Asal Pait Jaya (ASPAJA) football club in Dusun VI Pait Jaya, Belo Laut Village, West Bangka Regency.
Before the friendly match began, PT Timah’s Division Head of Processing and Refinery, Sofian Simangunsong, handed over football equipment to Hormen, the chairman of the ASPAJA football club, at the Pait Jaya football field on Wednesday (12/11/2024).
Hormen expressed gratitude for PT Timah’s continuous support in advancing community football.
“Alhamdulillah, PT Timah once again shows its care for sports by providing support through goalpost nets, uniforms, and footballs to the ASPAJA Club. Previously, PT Timah also helped us by constructing goalposts,” he said.
He appreciated PT Timah’s persistent efforts to assist in the development of football in the area and its consistent support for the surrounding community.
Similarly, Erik, the head of Dusun VI Pait Jaya, hopes that providing football equipment will encourage better achievements among players.
“With this support from PT Timah, we hope ASPAJA players become more motivated and achieve excellence in football. PT Timah also often helps residents with various needs, such as medical assistance, necessities, fishing gear, proper housing, and more,” Erik added.
Religious and community leader H. Syafroni also acknowledged PT Timah’s contributions to social and religious initiatives.
“Every year, during Eid al-Adha, PT Timah donates sacrificial animals to the community,” he said. (*).
