KARIMUN -- PT Timah Tbk's community empowerment program on Stunak Island in the form of assistance to the food security program by growing vegetables hydroponically is going well and the results can be harvested.

The Agricultural Extension Officer of the Karimun Agricultural Service, Helmi, said that the hydroponic vegetable program that empowers the community on Setunak Island is considered successful and successful.

According to him, at this early stage, these housewives were able to implement the knowledge gained from hydroponic farming training some time ago.

"I as an extension worker feel happy and proud of the results obtained and the enthusiasm of the women on Setunak Island, especially the Setunak Jaya Hydroponic group," he said.

"These women are able to accept what I say and run it well so that at this time they are able to reap the results of their hard work, eagerly learning knowledge and everything is going well," he said.

Meanwhile, the Chair of the Setunak Jaya Hydroponic Group, Aisyah, said that she was very happy and proud of the results obtained so far.

"I and the women of the Setunak Mandiri group are happy with today's results, and this is the first time we are able to grow vegetables with our own hands and can harvest them," she said.

Her party appreciated PT Timah Tbk for paying attention to the food security of the residents on Stunak Island. This can be a new spirit for them to be able to grow their own vegetables to meet their family's food needs.

"We thank PT Timah for the programs that are being carried out on Setunak Island to support food security for the people here," she said.

According to her, this program can reduce food dependence on other regions. She hoped that PT Timah Tbk could always accompany them to help the community's independence on Setunak Island.

"Hopefully, with the success of this early stage of hydroponics, it can be used as momentum in maintaining food security for the community, and on Setunak Island the community will no longer depend on vegetables from other places that we have experienced so far.
