PANGKALPINANG -- PT Timah has once again achieved a proud accomplishment through four employees who received the 2024 Dharma Karya Energi dan Sumber Daya Mineral award in the Madya category from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM).
The award was presented by Minister of ESDM Bahlil Lahadalia during the 79th Mining Day ceremony held at the National Monument Square, Jakarta, on Thursday (10/10/2024).
This award is a recognition by the ESDM ministry for individuals/groups/institutions whose innovative thinking has had a significant impact on national development, particularly in the energy and mineral resources sector.
The four PT Timah employees who received the Satya Darma Bakti Madya award are Arief Rachman, Dedy Firmansyah, Rais Fikry, and Rizki Agustiani, for their creation of the Centrifugal Revolutioner innovation.
Centrifugal Revolutioner is an innovation that involves modifying systems and processes by adding equipment to capture fine tin, thereby enhancing processing recovery.
Through this innovation, the PT Timah team can capture fine tin using raw materials from tin tailings, thereby increasing PT Timah's production.
One of the team members, Arief Rachman, shared that they participated in the ESDM Dharma Karya selection after winning an innovation competition at PT Timah's internal event, the TINS Hackathon.
"We developed our innovation because the company is currently striving to increase production. We saw that there is a considerable amount of tin tailings available that couldn't be maximally processed with existing equipment. Therefore, we devised a system and added equipment to capture fine minerals containing tin in these tailings to enhance processing recovery," explained Arief.
According to Arief, while working at PT Timah's Processing Unit, they conducted tests on the equipment and system they developed. He expressed gratitude that PT Timah's management supported their innovation process.
Currently, the Centrifugal Revolutioner innovation has been implemented in PT Timah's Processing and Refinery Division as an effort to boost production.
"We utilize existing raw materials in the form of tin tailings for processing, and the equipment used is cost-effective. We were also supported by PT Timah's management to develop this innovation, starting from lab-scale experiments until its current implementation," he added.
Meanwhile, Rizki Agustiani, another team member, mentioned that they prepared for this innovation for over six months, conducting various trials to find a suitable method for implementation.
"This has been a valuable experience, and we are pleased that what we envisioned and executed can benefit the company in supporting its operations, supported by management," he stated.
Anggi Siahaan, Head of Communications at PT Timah, stated that PT Timah's management continuously supports a culture of innovation within the company.
"The management always encourages employees to innovate, and the results can be seen through awards like this. We hope this award can inspire other employees to contribute further to advancing the company and supporting government programs in the energy sector," said Anggi. (*)
