BANGKA -- To support the activities of fishermen in Bangka Regency, PT Timah Tbk handed over assistance to the Harapan Baru Fishermen Group, Tanjung Ratu Hamlet, Rebo Village, Sungailiat District, Bangka Regency, Monday (24/7/2023).
The assistance from PT Timah Tbk was handed over by PT Timah Tbk's CSR Team to the Head of the Harapan Baru Fishermen Group, M. Ridwan, who was also witnessed by group members.
M. Ridwan said that the assistance from PT Timah Tbk would be used to build a fishing shelter not far from Takari Beach. In addition to a shelter, this building will also be used as a place for weighing fish caught by fishermen.
According to M. Ridwan, fishermen already had shelters and parking lots for fishermen's vehicles. However, it has been nearly a year since the hut has been damaged and is currently on the verge of collapse, so fishermen no longer dare to use the hut.
"There is already a fisherman's hut above it for storing goods into the sea, below for parking motorbikes. But because it is made of wood it is almost collapsing, we don't dare to park there anymore. In the meantime we are staying where people park it," said Ridwan.
With the help from PT Timah Tbk, he said they would build a semi-permanent fishing hut, a fish weighing area, and a parking lot for fishing vehicles.
"Alhamdullilah, this assistance from PT Timah Tbk is very helpful. We can immediately build fishermen's shelters, vehicle parking areas, and fish weighing points," he said.
He said this fishing hut could later be shared with other members of the fishing group.
M. Ridwan said that this is the second time their groups have received assistance from PT Timah Tbk. In 2021, they received three units of 9.8 PK outboard engines from PT Timah Tbk.
"Previously, PT Timah Tbk also provided outboard engine assistance to our group. Alhamdulillah, this has produced and provided income for our group," he said.
Ridwan appreciates PT Timah Tbk's commitment to supporting fishermen groups. He hopes that this synergy and collaboration can continue.
"PT Timah Tbk often helps fishermen's groups. Hopefully, PT Timah Tbk's work will run smoothly," he said. (*)
