CENTRAL BANGKA – Preanto (28) could not hide his happiness when medical staff arrived with PT Timah Tbk, who installed prosthetic limbs for him on Thursday (23/2/2022).
For years he had been waiting to have prosthetic legs, finally, it could come true after being assisted by a member of the MIND ID Mining Industry holding, PT Timah Tbk.
This resident of Dusun 01, Batu Beriga Village, Lubuk Besar District, Central Bangka Regency can no longer carry out his activities as before because his leg was amputated due to bone loss.
This man who works as a fisherman said that after the amputation he could only sit in a wheelchair. He did various ways to get prosthetic limbs, and the assistance came from PT Timah Tbk.
“I didn't think that PT Timah would help me, I didn't even think about asking PT Timah for help. After receiving the news that measurements would be taken, I couldn't wait for the arrival of these prosthetic legs," he said.
With the help of this prosthetic leg, according to him, he can return to his activities even though it's not like before.
“After getting this prosthetic leg, I want to get back to my activities, even though I can't work hard. But at least it can work lightly," he said.
Preanto's father, Lamemo (72) said he was very sad to see his son's condition. The reason is that it is difficult for him to move around, even going to the toilet must require the help of others.
"We are very grateful for the assistance from PT Timah. Hopefully, the intention of our children to be able to return to work can be carried out. This assistance has been very helpful for us," he said.
He was unable to hide his happiness when he saw his child starting to walk using his prosthetic legs.
"I am very happy after seeing my child trying to walk, even if it takes a few steps. Hopefully, over time he will get used to it and of course, it will make him excited again," said Lamemo.
Meanwhile, the Head of Hamlet 01, Beriga Village, Rizal, said that the condition of the residents was indeed apprehensive because they could only stay at home.
“Of course, we are very concerned about the condition of our citizens like this. Previously, the Village had asked for help from other parties, but there was no response," said Rizal.
He appreciated PT Timah Tbk's quick response in helping the community.
“We are of course very happy that one of our residents can be assisted by PT Timah. The response is very fast. We also did not expect PT Timah's response to be so fast, at that time we were informed that PT Timah would take measurements and today it has been installed," he said.
