KARIMUN – In celebration of National Occupational Safety and Health (K3) Month, PT Timah Tbk Head Kundur organized various competitions involving employees.
These activities aim to raise awareness of the importance of implementing a K3 culture in the workplace while fostering camaraderie and creating a positive sense of competitive spirit among participants.
The lively K3 Month competitions were held at PT Timah Head Kundur, with employees enthusiastically participating in firefighting and 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) contests at the PT Timah Tbk Head Area Kundur ceremonial field on Thursday, January 23, 2025.
Representatives from various work units, such as dredging ships (KK), production suction vessels (KIP), and other supporting facilities, took part in the events.
Participants were evaluated on several criteria, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), operating equipment, and extinguishing fires using fire extinguishers and wet burlap sacks.
Anggi Siahaan, Department Head of Corporate Communication at PT Timah, stated that the company consistently organizes various competitions every year to commemorate National K3 Month.
"PT Timah remains committed to implementing a K3 culture by carrying out various programs, including embedding K3 practices throughout all its operational activities. These competitions are one way to sharpen employees’ skills in handling emergency situations," Anggi said.
She further emphasized that the National K3 Month celebration serves as a significant moment for the company to reflect on its achievements in maintaining occupational safety and health while encouraging all organizational elements to innovate continuously in creating a safe and healthy work environment.
Paizul, a participant from the Sea Mining Supervisor Unit in Kundur, expressed his enthusiasm and excitement in joining the activities.
According to him, such events are highly beneficial and motivate employees to continually improve their skills and remain vigilant, ready to act promptly in emergencies.
"I’m thrilled to represent my unit in this competition. Beyond keeping us prepared, vigilant, and quick to respond in emergencies, it also serves as a platform for fostering connections among colleagues," he said. (*)
