Facilitating the Mobility of Sick People at Sri Tanjung Gelam Karimun Port, PT Timah Distributes Wheelchairs and Stretcher Assistance to Patients

KARIMUN -- To facilitate the mobility of sick people when passing through Sri Tanjung Gelam Harbor, Karimun Regency, Riau Islands Province, PT Timah handed over two units of wheelchairs and one unit of stretchers or ambulance stretchers to the Karimun Port Business Entity.

This assistance was handed over by the Regional Head Kundur Wiyono to the Head of BUP Karimun Yuwono at the BUP Karimun Office, Tuesday 27 August 2024.

With this assistance, it is hoped that it will facilitate the mobility of people, especially those who are sick, in and out of Sri Tanjung Gelam Port.

"Many sick people from the islands in Karimun Regency are often referred to Muhammad Sani Regional Hospital in Karimun, so it is hoped that these wheelchairs and stretchers can make it easier to evacuate to ambulances," said Head of Corporate Communications PT Timah Anggi Siahaan.

Meanwhile, the Head of Karimun Regency BUP, Yuwono, appreciated PT Timah for handing over wheelchairs and stretchers which were indeed beneficial for the community.

According to Yuwono, community traffic at Tanjung Gelam Harbor is very busy, from islands outside Karimun, if they are sick, many are referred to the RSUD in Karimun Regency.

"So having wheelchairs and stretchers will certainly help make things smoother when going up or down. We hope that in the future PT Timah will progress further and continue to contribute to society," he said.

One of the Karimun residents, Rustam (65), expressed his thanks to PT Timah for caring about the community's needs, one of which is wheelchairs and stretchers.

"This will really help make things easier when there are people who are sick and unable to walk, either coming or going home, so this is very useful. As we can see, currently the existing wheelchairs and stretchers are no longer suitable for use," he said. (*)
