KUNDUR -- To increase productivity and make the work of farmers easier, PT Timah Tbk handed over a unit of hand tractor to the Tailong Farmer Development Group on Budiarjo street Hamlet I Kundur Village, Kundur Barat District, Karimun Regency, Wednesday (12/10/2022).
This Hand Tractor assistance was handed over directly by the Coordinator of PPM for the Riau Islands and Riau Regions, Eka Budhy Susanto, to the Head of the Farmers Development Group Tailong Suparno, and his members.
The hand tractor assistance is expected to help facilitate the work of the members of the Tailong Farmers Group in cultivating their land. So that it can increase the productivity of farmer groups and have an impact on improving the community's economy.
The head of the Tailong Farmer Development Group in Kundur Suparnon appreciated Timah Tbk's assistance in providing equipment for their farmer group.
According to him, this hand tractor is really needed by members of the Tailong Farmers Group to ease their daily work.
"This hand tractor assistance is very useful for the Tailong Farmers Group and its members. We are very grateful to the company for paying attention to the farming community," he said.
He said that so far, their group members are still cultivating the land traditionally using hoes and makeshift tools.
Suparno said that their 10-member farmer group is horticulture and vegetable farmers.
"The 10 members work on an area of ??approximately five hectares with various vegetable crops such as chili, corn, long beans, cucumber, and watermelon. These agricultural products are supplied to meet the needs of the people on the island of Kundur," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of Kundur Barat District, Khaidir, expressed his appreciation for PT Timah Tbk for providing assistance to the community in Kundur Barat District.
"Assistance from PT Timah Tbk is not only the community for fishermen who get attention, but all levels of society so that people really feel the contribution of the company's presence in Kundur Barat," he said.
This hand tractor assistance, he said, can make the work of farmers easier so they can work on land faster.
