PANGKALPINANG -- PT Timah's Pemali Boarding School scholarship class program has provided benefits to many communities in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, Riau Province, and Riau Islands Province.
This high school level education scholarship which is implemented at SMAN 1 Pemali is PT Timah's commitment to support improving the quality of human resources in the mining area.
Implemented since 2000, PT Timah's Pemali Boarding School program has produced 851 alumni who have been active in various fields.
This program, which is implemented using a boarding system, is PT Timah's effort to increase school participation.
The PT Timah scholarship program targets outstanding students who come from low-income families.
PT Timah fully facilitates the education and living costs of scholarship recipients.
One of the alumni of PT Timah Ana's Pemali Boarding School program who recently graduated said that he felt very helped by the existence of the PT Timah scholarship class program.
"It's very helpful because this can reduce education costs, so parents don't have to think about our school costs anymore. There are many benefits for ourselves, we are more easily motivated to excel because of the supportive environment," he said.
Ana added, that apart from getting a high school education scholarship, they also got an education scholarship to continue to college.
"Alhamdullillah, we also received tuition fees for college from PT Timah. This will later be used for tuition fees. So we are really being helped," he said.
He hopes that the PT Timah scholarship class program can continue so that more people can feel the benefits of this program.
Like other alumni, Sayati said that the PT Timah scholarship class program had helped her and her family in terms of education.
"Hopefully this program can continue because we can feel the benefits directly. Because this program is very important in terms of education," he said.
