PANGKALPINANG -- PT Timah Tbk continues to intensify exploration activities within its Mining Business Permit (IUP) areas as part of efforts to increase sustainable tin resources and reserves.
The company’s exploration activities are aimed at ensuring production continuity while also strengthening Indonesia’s position as the world’s largest tin producer, as well as supporting downstreaming and the development of Rare Earth Element (REE) management domestically.
For more than 50 years, PT Timah Tbk has consistently expanded its exploration activities to discover and increase its tin resources and reserves.
As of the first semester of 2025, the publicly listed company TINS recorded tin mineral resources of 798,000 tons of Sn and tin mineral reserves of 309,000 tons of Sn.
Exploration is carried out in an integrated manner, both on land and at sea. The company’s geology team applies modern survey methods, geological mapping, drilling samples, and reserve modeling to obtain accurate data.
With the growth of reserves, PT Timah is optimistic it can support the government’s tin downstreaming program. Adequate raw material availability is key to strengthening the national tin industry and enhancing competitiveness in the global market.
“Intensive exploration will secure the long-term supply of tin ore, thereby supporting downstreaming and the resilience of Indonesia’s tin industry,” said PT Timah Tbk Corporate Secretary, Rendi Kurniawan.
Rendi added that PT Timah is committed to implementing good mining governance, ensuring every business process complies with regulations, prioritizing workplace safety, and safeguarding the environment.
“With strong reserves, PT Timah can continue contributing to the national economy, regional development, and community welfare,” Rendi concluded.
