BANGKA -- PT Timah Tbk continues to strengthen the company's social and environmental responsibility (TJSL) program. This is in line with the principles of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) which the company continues to develop.
One form of the TJSL program carried out by PT Timah Tbk is empowering community groups in the company's operational areas, one of which is the fishermen group.
Members of the MIND ID mining industry holding often collaborate with fishermen groups to encourage improvements in the fishermen's economy. PT Timah Tbk helps fishermen with fishing equipment, implements fishing ground programs, and supports social security for fishermen groups.
The TJSL program implemented by PT Timah Tbk for fishermen groups also felt the benefits. As stated by the Chairman of the All Indonesian Fishermen's Association (HNSI) Bangka Regency, Lukman.
Lukman said that they collaborated with PT Timah Tbk to carry out several programs, one of which recently carried out mangrove planting which was carried out in the 2 Sungailiat fishing area.
He said PT Timah Tbk also often supports fishing equipment for fishing groups in Bangka Regency. This fishing equipment is an effort to improve the fishermen's economy.
"HNSI Bangka Regency often synergizes with PT Timah Tbk to help fishermen. PT Timah Tbk often helps fishermen who have marine accidents, and helps with fishing equipment for fishing groups. Yesterday, we also planted mangroves together in coastal areas," said Lukman last week
He said that PT Timah Tbk also helps fishermen by providing employment social security. In fact, this program continues to run today.
"In Bangka Regency, there are around 400 fishermen who have received BPJS Employment. This BPJS has a lot of benefits, because working in the sea, disaster can come at any time. So with this BPJS it can provide protection for fishermen's families and children if something happens so that does not increase the number of poor people," he said.
In the future, he hopes that PT Timah Tbk can continue to empower fishing groups so that they can improve the fishermen's economy.
"Yesterday, the KK 21 Singkep 1 crew also helped fishermen who had experienced marine accidents and provided first aid. We hope that this synergy can continue and we continue to maintain harmonization with PT Timah Tbk," he said. (*)
