ERG Team of PT TIMAH Distributes Food Packages and Emergency Supplies to Residents Affected by Disaster in Nagekeo

NAGEKEO -- The Emergency Response Group (ERG) team of PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk continues to provide assistance to communities affected by disasters in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). This time, aid was distributed to residents of Maropokot Village and Nangadhero Village, Aesesa District, Nagekeo Regency.

The assistance is part of PT TIMAH’s humanitarian efforts to help ease the burden on communities that are still dealing with the impacts of the disaster. In addition to essential food packages, the assistance also included mats needed by residents and students while they remain at evacuation centers and emergency posts.

The aid distribution also reached the education sector, including Madrasah Aliyah (MA) Nurusa’adah in Maropokot Village.

Head of Madrasah Aliyah Nurusa’adah, Ambo Taang, said that residents in Maropokot and Nangadhero remain on alert. Although some residents have returned from evacuation centers, they are still hesitant to stay in their homes and have chosen to remain in emergency tents.

According to him, some residents still rely on large emergency posts and public kitchens to meet their daily needs. As a result, humanitarian assistance remains urgently needed.

He expressed his appreciation for the assistance provided by PT TIMAH, particularly the mats, which have been very helpful to residents and students staying at evacuation sites.

“The assistance distributed today is very helpful, especially the mats. Until now, we have still been sleeping on bare ground. Some other donors have also provided mats, but the number is still insufficient. With this additional assistance, we are very grateful,” he said.

Ambo explained that the disaster has also affected educational activities. The coastal area of Nangadhero was impacted by a tsunami with relatively small waves. However, the impact was significant for some residents, including students.

“Most of our students come from Nangadhero and Maropokot, which were affected by the tsunami. Although the tsunami was relatively small, it caused some students to lose essential school supplies, including uniforms, notebooks, and textbooks,” he explained.

Ambo hopes PT TIMAH’s support will continue, particularly to help restore the education sector in the affected areas.

“We pray that PT TIMAH will always be successful and receive abundant blessings from Allah SWT. To everyone who is part of PT TIMAH, we would like to express our deepest gratitude. May Allah always protect your families, bless you with abundant sustenance, and grant you many blessings,” he said. (*)
