BANGKA TENGAH—132 residents of Perlang Village, Lubuk Besar Sub-district, Central Bangka Regency, benefited from the free healthcare services offered by PT Timah’s Mobile Health Unit.
The healthcare services, held at the Perlang Village Football Field on Saturday (19/10/2024), were enthusiastically received by the community. This event was part of the Lake Pading Festival III series.
In addition to the Mobile Health Unit, the festival included various activities such as a traditional Malay attire fashion show, karaoke competition, regional music aerobics, and a local MSME bazaar.
PT Timah's Mobile Health Unit is a free healthcare service to reach out to communities in the company’s operational areas. The initiative aims to enhance the overall health quality of residents.
Equipped with professional medical personnel, the Mobile Health Unit not only offers treatment but also provides health promotion education, such as encouraging healthy lifestyles.
One of the residents who received healthcare services, Nurjanah (67), expressed her gratitude for PT Timah’s Mobile Health Unit coming to her village.
“We are grateful for this free healthcare service. Thank you, PT Timah, and I hope this program continues,” she said.
Meanwhile, the Village Head of Perlang, Yani Basaroni, appreciated PT Timah’s contribution to providing healthcare to the community.
“The residents were eager to get their health checked. From the examinations, many were found to have high uric acid and blood sugar levels. PT Timah's medical team advised them to regularly check their health at the local Puskesmas (community health center),” he explained.
He also highlighted that PT Timah has not only provided healthcare services but has been supporting the Lake Pading Festival for the past few years. The festival is an annual event aimed at promoting tourism in Perlang Village.
“We hope PT Timah will continue to support the Lake Pading Festival, as it has become an annual agenda. Last year, PT Timah also supported the festival,” he added.
The Lake Pading Festival is one of the efforts by the Perlang Village Government to promote local tourism. In 2022, Perlang Village received the Anugerah Desa Wisata (ADWI) award.
The village has four main tourist attractions: Gusung Island marine tourism, traditional house tourism, Sadap Waterfall, and Lake Pading tourism. (*)
