Enhancing Tennis Athletes' Achievements, PT Timah Provides Tennis Court for Community Training

BANGKA BARAT – To support community sports activities, PT Timah has made a tennis court available in the area of the Indonesian Tin Museum in Mentok, West Bangka.

This tennis court is frequently used by the community for training or recreational sports, such as the activities of the Mentok Tennis Club (MTC).

David, Secretary of the Mentok Tennis Club, stated that the MTI Tennis Court is utilized by the community as a facility for playing tennis.

"Mentok Tennis Club consists of people of all ages, young and old, both men and women. Adults train every Monday and Friday in the afternoon, while children and teenagers practice tennis every Saturday and Sunday morning starting at 7 AM until noon," David explained.

David expressed his gratitude to PT Timah for providing the tennis court, allowing the community to pursue their hobbies. This court is also used by tennis athletes for practice due to its strategic location.

"We are grateful and thank PT Timah for providing the tennis court facilities, which benefit the community, especially tennis athletes," he said.

With the upcoming Regional Student Sports Week (POPDA), David hopes PT Timah can renovate the tennis court.

"We hope PT Timah can renovate the court because it will be used for POPDA. This court will be a venue for athletes to compete. Additionally, through such events, several talented young athletes are born," he said.

One of West Bangka's young tennis athletes, Al Varo Vidrin (13), mentioned that he often practices at the Museum Tin Tennis Court.

"We practice here every scheduled session, and I've even competed against adults. Thank you to PT Timah for providing these facilities," said Al Varo, who won first place in doubles at the IMTC National Championship in Palembang.

Similarly, Al Varo’s teammate, Rifat (11), expressed his desire to excel in the upcoming POPDA.

"I often practice tennis here, and I hope to achieve the best results at POPDA," he said. (*)
