Enhancing Occupational Safety: PT Timah Intensifies Safety Sign Installation

PANGKALPINANG – PT Timah Tbk remains committed to creating a safe work environment throughout its business operations. This aligns with the company's ongoing efforts to enhance occupational safety and health (K3).

As part of its safety improvement initiatives, PT Timah is intensifying the installation of safety signs across all operational areas. This initiative aims to raise awareness and ensure compliance with safety procedures while minimizing the risk of workplace accidents.

Workplace safety is a top priority for the company, and PT Timah continues to reinforce K3 initiatives for both employees and business partners. Safety signs serve as visual guidelines to help workers safely carry out their activities.

The installation of safety signs aligns with Indonesian workplace safety regulations, including Law No. 1 of 1970 on Occupational Safety, Government Regulation No. 50 of 2012 on the Implementation of Occupational Safety and Health Management Systems, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation No. 26 of 2018 on the Implementation of Good Mining Practices and Supervision of Mineral and Coal Mining, and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Decree No. 1827.K/30/MEM/2018 on Guidelines for Implementing Good Mining Practices

Anggi Siahaan, Department Head of Corporate Communication at PT Timah, emphasized that safety is the company's top priority. Therefore, PT Timah continues to introduce various initiatives to strengthen its workplace safety culture.

“Safety signs serve multiple purposes, such as providing clear information about workplace hazards, standardizing safety procedures for employees and visitors, raising awareness of workplace safety and environmental protection, and acting as a risk control measure,” explained Anggi.

“The company is committed to creating a safe and comfortable work environment for all employees. Installing safety signs is a practical step to ensure that every individual has clear visual guidance to help them reduce occupational risks,” he added.

The safety signs are installed at critical points, including Production areas, Warehouses, Heavy vehicle pathways, and Evacuation zones. The types of signs installed include Warning signs, which indicate potential hazards, Prohibition signs, which restrict certain activities, and Directional signs, which provide navigation and emergency instructions.

“In addition to installing safety signs, the company also regularly conducts safety training and awareness campaigns for all employees and business partners. These efforts aim to build a strong safety culture within the workplace,” Anggi concluded. (*)
