PANGKALPINANG – PT Timah Tbk continues to improve its governance practices, one of which is by strengthening mining safety within its business operations.
To achieve this, PT Timah Tbk, in collaboration with the Center for Human Resource Development in Geology, Minerals, and Coal (PPSDM Geominerba), conducted the Mining Safety Management System (SMKP) Implementation Training for the company's employees and business partners (Batch I).
The training was attended by 36 participants from various work units and business partners and took place from March 10–15, 2025, in the main meeting room of PT Timah Tbk’s headquarters.
The event was officially opened online by Dr. Ir. Hendra Gunawan, Director of Mineral and Coal Engineering and Environment, who also serves as the Head of the Mining Inspectorate at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (KESDM). The event was also attended by Ir. Dwi Anggoro Ismukurtianto, M.Sc., Head of the Center for Human Resource Development in Geology, Minerals, and Coal at KESDM; Nur Adi Kuncoro, Director of Operations and Production at PT Timah Tbk; Dr. Raden Yudi Pratama, ST.M, Ed, Coordinator of Training and Infrastructure Development at PPSDM Geominerba; and functional officials from KESDM’s Directorate of Mineral and Coal Engineering and Environment.
Dr. Raden Yudi Pratama, ST.M, Ed, stated that the training aims to enhance participants' understanding and skills in implementing the SMKP framework in compliance with regulations.
"The materials cover key SMKP elements, including policy, planning, organization and personnel, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, documentation, and performance improvement," he explained.
Meanwhile, Ir. Dwi Anggoro Ismukurtianto, M.Sc., emphasized that the training is a strategic effort to improve human resource competence in the mining sector.
"Every mining company is required to conduct an internal SMKP audit at least once a year to ensure effective implementation. Therefore, competent human resources are essential to ensure compliance with applicable regulations," he stated.
PT Timah Tbk's Director of Operations & Production, Nur Adi Kuncoro, expressed appreciation to the Director of Mineral and Coal Engineering and Environment at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Head of PPSDM Geominerba, and all speakers who contributed to the success of this training.
"With participants from Bangka, Belitung, Kundur, and HSE representatives in Pangkalpinang, we hope this training runs smoothly and further strengthens the implementation of mining safety at PT Timah Tbk and among our business partners," he said.
As part of the transparency and integrity in SMKP implementation, the training also included a Declaration of Anti-Bribery Compliance. This step reinforces the prohibition of gratuities, sanctions for violations, and protection for whistleblowers, reflecting PT Timah Tbk's commitment to good corporate governance.
Through this training, PT Timah Tbk and its business partners reaffirm their commitment to implementing high safety standards in mining operations.
The initiative is expected to serve as a concrete step toward fostering a stronger safety culture in the mineral and coal mining sector. (*)
