JAKARTA – PT Timah Tbk was honored by the National Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) RI at the "BAZNAS Partner Appreciation Night 2024," held at Hotel Borobudur, Jakarta (11/11/2024).
This award from BAZNAS RI recognizes PT Timah’s significant contributions to promoting zakat, infak, and sedekah (ZIS) literacy and providing zakat services for employee income.
The award was accepted by Guntur Avryadi and Tantra Pratama, representatives of PT Timah’s Zakat Collection Unit (UPZ BAZNAS).
The BAZNAS Partner Appreciation Night 2024 celebrates BAZNAS partners who actively support the Employee Zakat Program (ZKL), involving ministries, state institutions, state-owned enterprises, and the private sector.
Attendees included BAZNAS RI Deputy Chair Mo Mahdum, BAZNAS RI leaders, and representatives from 64 BAZNAS RI partners, including 17 ministries, 9 state institutions, 13 state-owned enterprises, and 21 private entities.
BAZNAS RI Chair Prof. Dr. KH. Noor Achmad, MA, expressed deep appreciation for the partners who support BAZNAS’s mission to uplift the community’s welfare through ZIS.
He noted that this recognition reflects the support of partners in helping BAZNAS fulfill its mandate under Law No. 23 of 2011 on zakat management.
“We hope this collaboration strengthens zakat management across institutions and positively impacts the broader community,” said Prof. Noor Achmad, quoted from BAZNAS RI’s official website.
Through the ZKL program, BAZNAS facilitates employees, including those at PT Timah, in fulfilling their zakat obligations via payroll deductions or transfers.
This is expected to optimize national ZIS funds for distribution to eligible recipients and contribute to poverty alleviation.
PT Timah’s HR Director, Hendra Kusuma Wardana, commended PT Timah’s UPZ for managing employee zakat and channeling it to recipients, benefiting a wider range of mustahik (beneficiaries).
He emphasized that UPZ conducts zakat management transparently and openly, ensuring its effectiveness and empowering beneficiaries to achieve self-sufficiency.
“This small step supports zakat programs within the company. Understanding zakat’s relevance in business and social contexts is crucial. I encourage everyone at PT Timah to channel zakat through UPZ PT Timah, allowing for greater impact,” he said in a recent zakat webinar.
UPZ BAZNAS PT Timah Chair, Rendi Kurniawan, expressed gratitude for the award.
"We thank BAZNAS RI for this recognition. PT Timah is committed to supporting integrated employee zakat management with BAZNAS. Through ZKL, we hope to continue assisting those in need and promoting community welfare,” said Rendi.
Rendi also emphasized PT Timah’s ongoing support for BAZNAS RI’s initiatives to optimize ZIS funds and strengthen efficient and effective zakat governance.
“We hope this partnership continues to expand, offering broader benefits and inspiring more institutions to manage zakat professionally,” he added.
This award highlights PT Timah’s commitment to professional, effective zakat management that has a tangible impact on the community.
Previously, PT Timah’s UPZ implemented various zakat management programs that boosted community economic development. Recently, dozens of MSMEs received business capital and tents to support their ventures, helping them achieve self-reliance.
PT Timah also provides education and literacy on zakat management, which is conducted by UPZ BAZNAS PT Timah through webinars.
PT Timah hopes its synergy with BAZNAS continues to grow stronger, addressing community social and economic challenges through effective zakat management. (*)
