EAST BELITUNG -- To support the improvement of human resource quality in mining-adjacent areas, PT Timah has provided assistance to the Cahaya Qolbu Belitung Foundation, which is building the An-Nur Islamic Boarding School (Pondok Pesantren) in Padang Village, Manggar District, East Belitung Regency.**
This assistance is expected to support the completion of facilities and infrastructure for An-Nur Islamic Boarding School, which is still under construction.
Izhar, Chairperson of the Cahaya Qolbu Belitung Foundation, said the support from PT Timah will be used to build a prayer room (mushola) for learning and worship for both students at the boarding school and the surrounding community.
“Currently, we are preparing the necessary facilities and infrastructure. So far, we’ve built housing for the teachers, access roads to the site, water supply, and more. PT Timah’s support will be used to build a simple prayer room along with toilets and ablution facilities to support daily activities at the school,” he said.
He added that they are still in the process of developing the boarding school and hope to welcome students soon. The presence of the boarding school is expected to produce a generation of young people who are morally upright and faithful.
“This pesantren aims to create youth who are not only accomplished but also have good character. There are not many Islamic boarding schools in Belitung Island, and in East Belitung, students often have to go to Tanjungpandan or even outside the island,” he added.
He expressed appreciation for PT Timah’s support in helping to realize the establishment of the school that will shape the next generation.
“Thank you to PT Timah for the assistance. May this become a source of ongoing blessings for everyone involved. This support truly helps us in building the prayer room,” he said.
Meanwhile, Padang Village Head, Izhar, stated that PT Timah has supported the community in various programs, such as helping salt farming groups, education, and other social initiatives.
“We appreciate PT Timah for not only supporting community social programs but also helping with salt production and the development of this boarding school. The synergy is going very well, allowing the community to truly feel the positive impact of the company’s presence,” he concluded.
