KUNDUR -- In commemoration of National Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Month 2026, PT Timah Tbk Division Area Kundur held an Emergency Response Competition at the PT Timah Area Kundur Parade Ground on Tuesday (January 27, 2026).
This activity is part of the company’s commitment to strengthening the culture of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) in the workplace, while also improving employees’ preparedness in dealing with various potential emergency situations.
Head of Corporate Communication Department at PT TIMAH Tbk, Anggi Siahaan, stated that being prepared for emergency situations is a mandatory competency that all employees must possess.
“Every employee must always be alert and skilled in handling emergency situations, because workplace risks can arise at any time. Through this competition, the company hopes that all participants engage seriously as a form of collective learning,” he said.
He explained that the competition also serves as an evaluation to see the extent to which employees are able to implement the OSH training that has been provided previously.
“With this activity, it becomes a way to measure employees’ ability to apply workplace safety procedures. The hope is that, in the future, workplace accidents will be prevented,” he added.
The emergency response competition is held annually as part of the commemoration of National OSH Month, while also following up on directives from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM).
The competition categories include 5R (Organize, Arrange, Clean, Maintain, Diligent), Safety Contact, Firefighting, and Basic Life Support (BLS).
One of the competition participants, Yulius, expressed his enthusiasm in representing his division. According to him, the competition provides valuable experience in honing skills to handle emergency situations.
“Through this competition, we can assess our ability to handle critical conditions, such as fires. We are trained to think quickly, respond promptly, and prioritize the safety of ourselves and others,” he said.
The emergency response competition was attended by representatives from various work units within PT Timah Area Kundur as well as representatives from KIP Mitra Timah.
