PANGKALPINANG -- PT Timah continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting local economic growth, one of which is by consistently promoting the development of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) through a series of training programs.
The training programs held by PT Timah for UMKM players are part of the company’s social responsibility to help create more resilient, innovative, and competitive UMKM in wider markets.
Just last week, PT Timah held a digital marketing training session for dozens of UMKM players to broaden their knowledge on how to sell products through online stores.
PT Timah has organized various training sessions covering topics such as Strategies and UMKM Development through Entrepreneurial Mindset and Product Branding in the Digital Market Competition, and Digital-Based Financial Reporting for Small Businesses.
These training programs align with the government’s efforts to push UMKM transformation to become more adaptive to the times, especially in the digital era.
With the right support, UMKM are expected to grow into professional business players ready to compete in national and global markets.
PT Timah’s Department Head of Corporate Communication, Anggi Siahaan, said that UMKM play a strategic role in the economy, especially in absorbing labor and driving local economic activity.
"PT Timah strives to provide practical training tailored to the needs of UMKM players so they can level up. UMKM play a vital role in boosting local economies," Anggi said.
Through these training sessions, UMKM players not only gain new knowledge but also networking opportunities and sustainable business mentoring.
One of the participants of PT Timah’s digital marketing training, Yuliana, said that the training helped her optimize her product marketing on online marketplaces.
"Alhamdulillah, I’ve gained so much new knowledge. This isn't my first time joining a training session. I’ve joined several trainings from PT Timah and they’ve all been very beneficial. For example, today I just learned how to view customer orders on TikTok. Before this, I only sold on Facebook," said the owner of Stik Ikan Pak Umar.
She added that the training has boosted her confidence in doing live selling on social media.
"Now I feel more confident going live, I know what to say. This is really important for us because relying solely on offline sales results in much lower revenue. So, we really have to be smart in marketing online," she said.
Moving forward, she hopes PT Timah will continue to support them by providing more training programs to improve their capabilities, which in turn can help develop their businesses and boost their economic well-being
