KARIMUN -- The creative industry continues to grow with many opportunities. Creative industry players must be encouraged so that their business can develop.
Realizing the potential of creative industry players in the company's operational area, PT Timah Tbk handed over assistance to Creative Industry players in Karimun, Suyuko, Monday (3/10/2022).
This resident of Harjosari Village, Tebing District, Karimun Regency, uses used materials such as pallet wood and coconut shells to make various handicraft products.
Suyoko started this Hasta Karya craft business since 2010 and is still running until now. He wants to expand his business to meet the economic needs of his family.
From these used materials, Suyoko makes various crafts such as ashtrays, tissue box decorative lights and others.
With the help from PT Timah, Suyoko said that he was very happy and increasingly excited to be able to continue to produce more varied and contemporary works.
According to Suyoko, he will use assistance from PT Timah to procure the necessary equipment such as wood cutting machines and others. The rest he will use to add raw materials.
"Thank you PT Timah for the assistance provided, I feel happy and very helped. This assistance will be used to buy the equipment needed," he said.
Many handicrafts from Hasta Karya have been sold, but are still limited to local ones such as Karimun Batam and Tanjung Pinang, so it is hoped that later if the equipment is complete and adequate it can meet consumer demand.
"Hopefully, with our adequate tools, we can accommodate consumer demand," he said.
Currently, there are handicraft products made by Suyoko who are included in the exhibition in Bali to represent Karimun Regency.
He said that when he received many orders, he usually employed neighbors.
He hopes that Hasta Karya products will be able to penetrate the international market.
"I hope PT Timah Tbk can hold an exhibition of handicraft products in Karimun Regency so that these products can be known by the wider community and our products are also able to go international," he said.
