WEST BANGKA – To promote the tourism area and support the local economy, PT Timah has built an archway in Tanjung Pakdan, Teluk Rubiah, Tanjung Village, Mentok District, West Bangka Regency.
The Tanjung Pakdan Archway now serves as the gateway for locals and tourists to access this area. It also facilitates easier access for visitors to the Tanjung Pakdan beach tourism site.
RW 06 Teluk Rubiah Chairman and Archway Construction Committee member Syarifuddin said that PT Timah collaborated with the local community in building the archway. He mentioned that this archway will raise awareness of the Tanjung Pakdan Village, especially since it is located next to PT Timah’s smelting plant.
“The archway, as the entrance to Tanjung Pakdan, was built by PT Timah in collaboration with the community. The purpose of this archway is to let people know that at the end of the road, there’s Tanjung Pakdan Village, which is right next to PT Timah’s smelting plant,” he explained.
He hopes that the archway will boost the local economy and contribute to the realization of the Tourism Village initiative initiated by the community.
“We are grateful for PT Timah’s assistance. Hopefully, this will benefit the people of Teluk Rubiah Village, especially Tanjung Pakdan, and the visitors coming to Tanjung Pakdan. Currently, the community is independently developing tourism facilities such as entertainment venues and food stalls,” he added.
He further stated that PT Timah’s various forms of support have been instrumental in their efforts to create the Tanjung Pakdan Tourism Village.
“PT Timah has provided various support around RT 02 RW 06, such as walkways, food packages, disaster relief, and many other contributions,” he mentioned.
Local resident Yang Nurmania, who is also the Chairman of RT 02 Tanjung Pakdan, expressed gratitude for the completion of the archway, hoping it would raise the village’s profile.
“Alhamdulillah, we are thankful for PT Timah’s assistance. With this archway, our village, Tanjung Pakdan, will be more recognizable, as previously, people didn’t know about our village,” he said.
Looking ahead, the RT 02 Chairman hopes that Tanjung Pakdan will continue to thrive after the archway construction and that the tourism area will flourish.
“God willing, we will continue to improve our area and beach. We hope it will become more developed. The community is also grateful and happy for PT Timah’s assistance, as the locals were involved in building the archway, providing a source of income for them,” he concluded. (*)
