EAST BELITUNG - PT Timah Tbk encourages the joint business group (KUB) processed Moringa leaves "Moringa" in Mentawak Village, Kelapa Kampit District, East Belitung Regency to continue to grow so that it can improve the members' economy.
KUB Moringa has a mainstay product producing moringa leaf flour, which is certain to have nutritional value so that their processed products have more selling value.
PT Timah Tbk is here to provide assistance in the form of flouring tools for the process of making Moringa leaves into Moringa flour. This tool is expected to facilitate KUB Moringa in producing its products.
The chairman of KUB Moringa, Tri Eka Ningsih, said that their business journey had started in 2008, but they did not have their own production house yet.
However, during the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak, they set up a production house, to process Moringa leaves into snack products.
"So we started to focus on Covid-19 because at that time we couldn't work as usual, so we had time to stay at home," she said.
Tri said, after the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak, they submitted a proposal to PT Timah Tbk, in order to add production equipment for their processed moringa leaves.
Apart from that, they also produce processed fish food, such as nuggets and others, but also made from the addition of Moringa leaves.
"We submitted a request to PT Timah Tbk for moringa flouring equipment. Previously, we just blended the leaves. So we will buy the assistance earlier to buy the flouring equipment so that it is smoother," she explained.
Tri also explained that the material for Moringa leaves is in the form of Moringa powder which is an additional ingredient in their product. So there is a certain measure for existing products.
Initially, they used the moringa leaves when the Mentawak Village held a competition made from katis, moringa, and katuk.
"So we were told to innovate, we tried processed wet moringa until it turned out that moringa flour can be applied to cakes and has characteristics from other places," she explained.
Therefore, she said, currently, their mainstay products are original bolen and moringa bolen.
Her party appreciates PT Timah Tbk which has helped them in improving the community's economy, through the assistance of these tools.
"Hopefully PT Timah Tbk will continue to be successful and be able to help other MSMEs later," she said.
