PANGKALPINANG -- PT Timah Tbk recognizes the empowerment of women as one of the keys to creating a sustainable and inclusive society.
PT Timah Tbk has implemented several initiatives through its Environmental Social Responsibility (ESR) program to empower women's groups. These initiatives include skill enhancement and the promotion of economic self-reliance for women's groups. As a member of the mining industry holding company MIND ID, PT Timah Tbk provides technical, managerial, and financial training to enhance the capacity of women, enabling them to actively participate in industrial activities.
PT Timah Tbk collaborates with the Indonesian Creative Women's Association (Persikindo) in Bangka Belitung to conduct eco-printing training for women's groups. This training also involves women in the third-class Women's Penitentiary in Pangkalpinang.
Moreover, in West Bangka Regency, PT Timah Tbk has implemented the Enchanting Culture Program (Arab Chicken and Eco-friendly Merawang Cultivation) with the Limau Jaya Women's Group in Air Limau Village and the Perkasa Women's Group in Belo Laut Village, Muntok Sub-district, West Bangka Regency.
Through this Enchanting Culture program, PT Timah Tbk encourages women's groups to enhance food resilience and improve the welfare of housewives through the empowerment of women's economic activities.
The Chairwoman of the Limau Jaya Women's Group, Supiawati, expressed the many benefits obtained in developing this Arab chicken farming business.
"During the Enchanting Culture program with PT Timah, we learned a lot about Arab chicken farming and have earned additional income. Previously, we were just ordinary housewives with no income, relying solely on our husbands' income. But since this program, as housewives, we now have additional income to improve our family's well-being," she said some time ago.
In addition, PT Timah Tbk also encourages women's groups to prevent and address stunting in the company's operational areas through the Kemunting Program (Stunting Reduction Activity), involving the Indonesian Breastfeeding Mothers Association (AIMI) in the Bangka Belitung Province.
On Belitung Island, PT Timah Tbk also developed the Pineapple Badau program, which involves women's groups, namely the 2Y Group.
The Chairwoman of the 2Y Group, Zulyanti, stated that they received equipment from PT Timah Tbk to produce pineapple dodol and pineapple tart.
Previously, PT Timah Tbk, in collaboration with Sucofindo, provided training for their group to process pineapples.
"Alhamdulillah, PT Timah Tbk continues to accompany us, not only providing assistance but also monitoring and assisting us in various ways," she explained. (*)
