PANGKALPINANG – Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a vital role in supporting local economies and creating jobs. To encourage the growth of MSMEs within its operational areas, PT Timah has once again disbursed working capital loans for MSMEs.
Through its Micro and Small Business Funding Program (PUMK), PT Timah allocated IDR 1.5 billion in the first quarter of 2025 to support business capital needs for MSMEs operating in the company’s surrounding areas.
In addition to facilitating access to funding for its fostered partners, PT Timah also encourages MSMEs to level up. In Q1 2025 alone, four of PT Timah’s partner MSMEs advanced to a higher business tier.
These MSMEs were able to scale up by meeting several criteria, such as increasing the number of employees, raising loan amounts, boosting production capacity and revenue, involving the local community in production, expanding market reach beyond the region or overseas, and obtaining national or international certifications.
PT Timah has been providing financial support to MSMEs since the year 2000, benefiting thousands of businesses in developing and expanding their enterprises.
Beyond financial support, this member of the MIND ID Mining Industry Holding also offers ongoing mentorship and coaching for MSMEs through various training and product marketing initiatives.
Some of the training programs organized by PT Timah include: Entrepreneurial mindset and branding strategies for digital market competition, Digital-based MSME financial reporting, and Digital marketing training to broaden skills in selling through online platforms.
These initiatives align with the government's efforts to push MSME transformation to become more adaptive in the digital age.“MSMEs are the backbone of the national economy. By providing easier access to capital, the Company aims to help them expand their businesses, create new jobs, and strengthen the economic structure of local communities,” said Anggi Siahaan, Department Head of Corporate Communication at PT Timah.
The supported MSMEs cover a range of sectors including creative industries, agriculture, fisheries, culinary, services, crafts, and skills-based enterprises.
Anggi added that this capital support program is part of PT Timah’s long-term commitment to creating real social impact while promoting inclusive economic growth in its operational areas.“When MSMEs grow, the local economy grows. This is the spirit of collaboration we aim to continue nurturing. The Company hopes to serve as a strategic partner in strengthening the MSME ecosystem and driving more equitable and sustainable economic development,”
Anggi concluded. (*)
